Rockin' Round The Improvi-Robin

Hello Everyone,

My part in the Improvi Robin this month was fun for me.  From the moment I received the piece below from Stephanie...

I knew that all I wanted to do was to add just to the top.  I had several ideas, but waited until the last minute as I had other deadlines to meet first.  But, lately I have been loving these colors together... eggplant and green just are fascinating me of late.

You can see what I mean in this quilt that I recently finished.  Just click here.  I will wait for you to come back.  See what I mean?  Don't these colors just really go together well?

So now for my part...

I just added to the top.  I added the purple and mauve batiks with the Asian fabric as the background.  Sorry for the darkness in the photo above,  I definitely tried retouching and editing it, this was the best I could get.  But the next photo is a better depiction.

Here is the top part that I added.  I really like how it finishes it off.  Just enough, it didn't really need much more.  Now it is off to Miki for her to do her round.  I can't wait to see what she will do with it, I am sure it will be gorgeous!  If you would like to see the progression on some of the other pieces in the round robin, just click here to go to the Flickr group.

Speaking of batiks... this weekend only you can take 15% off ALL batiks in stock in the shop!!! Yes, that is right, just use the code batik15 at checkout to receive your discount.

Start shopping now...

Wishing you all a lovely weekend!

Until Next Time...

Improvi-Robin

Hello Everyone,

Today I am sharing with you my addition to the Stephanie's middle block for our Improvi -Robin.  She sent me the block that is surrounded by the black that I added.

Because the block that Stephanie sent was truly wonky, I decided to stay within the wonky realm.

I added black and white fabric around the edges and then improvised with black, white, and pink toned "piano keys".  Liked it... But I thought that it need just a little more.  So I added some Kona Cerise around the edges to leave a place for the eyes to rest.  Love it and I hope that you like it too, Stephanie!

Now it is off to have another round added! Check out the other blocks in our round robin by clicking on this link for our Flickr group.

Don't forget to come back here on Saturday for the next installment of the Blogger's BOM!!

Unveiling the Strata Quilt and Project Improv....

Hello Everyone,

WARNING, sunglasses may be need for this picture heavy bright post. As promised, I have pictures of my strata quilt on my design wall . I love it!! I hope you do too!

I have starting piecing the rows together and it is really looking great. That is a little bit of a slower process. I am very meticulous!

On to my next batch of pictures. I have joined in on Jacquie's Project Improv. You can find the button on my side bar. First I want to tell you that blue is so not my color, but I love these blocks. I had some batik scraps left over from a project and decided to use those. Now we were only supposed to make one block, but as you can see I got carried away and made four!!

Each has a different middle piece and they are all log cabinish wonky style. What do you think?

I took individual pictures of each block, notice the different centers.

Then a couple of pile pictures.

Then two layout pictures.

Now all I have to do is upload them to Jacquie's Flickr group, later today, and then send them to her. Thanks for sparking some creativeness, Jacquie.

Stay tuned for my announcement coming later this week. Until then,
