The Quilt Market Floor... Through My Eyes

Hello Everyone,

Quilt Market is all but a blur right now, but WOW when it is over you have the very distinct feeling that you want to be home creating!!!  My mind is racing with new ideas, new products, new friends, and new incentives to create!!!

It seems like there is never enough time at market to do everything you want to do, but you do what you can and LOVE every minute.

My most favorite thing though is seeing old friends and making new ones.

Too much talking here, let's take a look at some of the things that I saw.

Of course being a Judy Niemeyer Certified Instructor and Shop my first stop was Judy's booth.  In fact, I was there a day early and was able to help her set it up!  That was a first for me, being on the market floor before it was even open.

The quilt above is a new pattern that she will be introducing in the Winter/Spring 2014 called there Fire Island Hosta.  Isn't it a beauty?  I can't wait to make this one myself.  Stay tuned to the shop, because we will have it in stock FOR SURE!!

Here is a look at part of her booth... you can see Judy over there rearranging things a bit.  The quilts look gorgeous!

Another booth that I was sooooo happy to see was Jen Kingwell.  She is an Australian designer who I follow online and adore her patterns.  So yes,  I did purchase patterns that will be available in the shop... just wait until you see them.

This is Halisha who is my distributor for all my yummy Australian M&S Fabrics.  I ordered the ENTIRE new line and they will be int the shop!!

The above is a little sampling of some of the Aussie designs.

Oh and yes... you have to LOVE Alexander Henry's Fabric line Folklorica, right??   Yup, they will be new in the shop too!  I adore all the vibrant colors and designs.

Here is a look at their booth... Whee... Fun for this time of the year!!

Just look at the detail in their booth...

And my friend and fellow Certified Instructor Cat Wilson had a booth at market too.  It was nice to catch up with her and chat for a while too.  We had lunch and went to the Robert Kaufman party together too.  Great to see you Cat!

Speaking of Robert Kaufman... Yes, there will be NEW Kona in the shop and...

Judy made the Queen Size Feathered Star from a beautiful new line of fabric from Robert Kaufman, coupled with their Radiance.  This quilt turned out just beautifully, very elegant.  I can't tell you how many people were stopping at the booth while I was with my rep just taking photos and touching the quilt.  I purchased all the fabric to kit this.  You too, will be able to make this elegant looking quilt!!

Another beauty was in Kaffe's booth.  This is Kim McClean's newest pattern done in all Kaffe Fassett fabrics.  Just to die for, don't you think!

Another vignette in the Kaffe Fassett booth... Love the paper dolls, so sweet!

My good friend, Deb Tucker, from Studio 180 Designs was busy in her booth every time I walked by!!    There is a reason they call her the Creative Kingpin.  Yes, I have reordered her rulers and stocked the NEW ones too!!

My friend Nedra and Pat, in their booth... Triangles On A Roll.  I will be ordering these for the shop too!  A great way to make lots of difficult blocks perfect!

The Timeless Treasures booth was awash with Judy Niemeyer quilts!! Don't they look AMAZING??  And the best news is I will be carrying every single one kitted in the same exact way in the shop!!  Woohoo!!

And if you couldn't get enough spikey goodness... take a look at Jacqueline DeJonge's booth.  Love her patterns and you will be seeing these paper pieced beauties in my shop too!

You just never know what you will see at Market... In the Timeless Treasures booth... Man-eating sharks... oh my!

My friend Pat Sloan in her booth.  She kept floating around Quilt Market.  And I finally got to meet her husband and guess what we talked about...??  Planes!

My friends Kate Colleran and Elizabeth Balderrama from Seams Like a Dream.  Don't you just love their Magnetic Midnight quilt in the blacks and brights?

And of course I sat and had a chat with my pal Pam Viera McGinnis... a.k.a. Pam Kitty Morning.  Always great to see her at Quilt Market!

Last but not least... I will be carrying ALL of Philip Jacobs brand new drop dead gorgeous ribbons in the shop.  They are wonderful!!!

I hope you enjoyed my view of the Quilt Market floor... Stay tuned for more photos of some of the quilts that I saw at the show!!

Until Next Time...

Quilt Market... Schoolhouse

Hello Everyone,

The past few days have been very busy here at Quilt Market in Houston.  On Friday, I attended Schoolhouse which I love.  It is sort of like speed dating... you go from room to room every 15 or 30 minutes and see little snippets of new designs, new fabrics, new products, and get to see some great eye candy.

I wanted to share here just a select few photos from Schoolhouse and I have an entire album of TONS more photos on Facebook.  These are some of my favorites.

Kaffe Fassett and Brandon Mably showing off Kim McClean's newest pattern done in all Kaffe Fassett Collective fabrics.  Just breathtakingly gorgeous!!

Hoffman Batik 1895 color card for their hand dyes.  Aren't they really to die for... ??? LOL!!

My friend Nedra's Chevron quilt made from all Triangles on a Roll.  Isn't this quilt just striking?  Love the scrappiness.

My pal Victoria's beautiful quilt with her original embroidery design.  Very sweet!

And Judy Niemeyer's design from her Cut Loose Press Pattern.  Love the brights on the black.

Schoolhouse is a fun way to get ideas for your shop and what you would like to carry.  So much of what I will be showing you over the next few days you will see in the shop soon!!!

A Unit K and Unit B together.... this is going to great, I can tell.

Lots of Spikes

Hello Everyone,

Whew!  I have been absent for a few days as I have been busy.  I am in Arizona enjoying a visit with my son, loving being outside in the sun, visiting family, and teaching.  I thought most of you would be interested in the teaching part, which consists of quilting... of course.  The family stuff might be slightly boring... ;)

On Monday, I taught the Sunflower Illusions and Total Eclipse class at In Stitches!  in Goodyear, AZ.  I had a fabulous class.  These ladies were so friendly and all had wonderful selections on fabric and colors.

This photo was taken at the end of the day.  This beautiful block was made with all Stonehenge fabric.  Love the texture!!

This one is truly going to look like Sunflowers, don't you think??  The oranges, yellows, and greens pair together so nicely.

Several of the ladies were crowned today!!  Nancy made this gorgeous beauty.

Then paired it with this beauty.  A gorgeous block.

Florence used the purple batiks for her background fabric.  This is going to be one fantastic quilt.

Linda made this gorgeous lime version.  These colors are going to pop!!

No batiks here... a very elegant Asian version.

Another Sunflower beauty!!

Off tomorrow to teach at A Quilter's Oasis in Mesa, AZ!!

In Arizona...

Hello Everyone,

This week I am in Arizona!  I am visiting with my son and I am also teaching while I am here.  Yesterday, I did a trunk show at A Quilter's Oasis in Mesa and will be teaching there on Tuesday.

I thought I would give you a little sneak peek of the trunk show....

Here I am with my quilts piled up and laid out.

Here are the ladies... We were just waiting for a few more.

Here is my Indian Summer Quilt.  This is a great beginner paper pieced quilt.  You can find the pattern and quilt kit here...

This is the Seasonal Table Runner, which should really be quilted on my table.  I will get to it, maybe over the holiday when I am home??  The pattern can be found here....

This is my Queen Size Feathered Star.  Probably one of my all time favorite quilts.  I love the boldness of the colors against the black.  You can find the pattern here and the kit here.

Here I am chatting it up with some of the quilters.  They were fantastic and I can't wait to teach there on Tuesday!

If you are in Arizona and haven't been to A Quilter's Oasis in Mesa, you must go!
