Fun Stuff!!

Business first...

******THERE IS STILL ONE OPENING LEFT IN THE PAY IT FORWARD*****

So what are you waiting for, go on I know you would like to try it. Sign up, I would love to have you join in on the fun!

Okay, I am now off of my soapbox. As many of you may have seen on the various blogs, I too have joined the FREE BOM stitchery by Lynette. It was my 1st time doing hand stitchery since I was a teen. Yes, I was crazy and hand embroidered everything in site. Mostly, I did my jeans!! I bet some of you also remember doing this too! It was a lot of fun and I can't wait until April for the next one. Here is my finished project.

I have not yet bordered it with fabric because I am waiting to see what the other blocks will be like. Take a look at her fabulous blog and download the pattern, it is called Noah's Ark.

I also received these little doo-dads in the mail from Jess.

She was doing some cleaning and wanted to get rid of them. I love them and was thinking that they might make a nice embellishment on a bag or purse. Do you have any other thoughts or uses for them?? Let me know I would love some input!

I finished the Mambo top, now to get it on my Gammill. I will post a picture of it next week.

Happy Weekend, Happy Quilting,

Jackie

Yo-Yo Update and PIF Challenge

Hi Everyone,

I know that some of you have been wondering about those yo-yo's that I made from the Kaffe Fassett fabrics in this previous post. I had to wait to post a picture until my Easter Bunny Swap Partner, Hannah at Gently Tiptoe, received her parcel. She did so here is what I made.

I had a ball making it. My hubby and kids even thought it was really cute!! The pattern is by Indygo Junction and they also make a yo-yo elephant and I believe one other item too. It's fun try it out for yourself!

On the next order of business, I joined in on a Pay it Forward Challenge with Peg at Happy In Quilting. I am very excited to do this and would love it if 3 of you would join me. Here are the rules:

The rules are that the first three people to join the challenge on my blog will receive a gift handmade by me. I will have 365 days to make and send your gift - hopefully it won't take me that long...... You must then do a post on your blog inviting 3 more people to join in and receive a handmade gift from you.

If you would like to join, please specifically say so in your comment. Thanks so much and I hope you enjoy!

Happy Quilting!! Jackie

PS. I uploaded more wonderful customer quilts on my website. The Red Sox also won their 1st game yesterday, yeah!! , but lost their 2nd game today :(

Mambo in Progress and Happy Easter!

I have actually made some headway on my Mambo quilt. I have cut all the fabric and have about 1/2 of the blocks complete. It is really a quick and easy quilt to make. Although, I am thinking of setting it on point and putting setting triangles in the border area. Yes, you are probably thinking that I am crazy, just make it simple. Or then again maybe that is just my voice? Either way I am still not sure what mood I will be in when I begin to lay out the blocks.

Anyway, check out my progress....I'm lovin' it!!

Another update has been made to my website, I just added 3 more customer quilts to it this morning. They are really gorgeous! Check them out here.

Have a Happy Easter everyone!!

Let's Mambo!

Sorry I have not posted in a few days, it has been quite busy around here. Although now I am getting my bearings. I have started a new projects. What the heck! I know I have a gazillion (is that a word?) others in progress...so what!

Anyway, I love this fabric so much I just had to use it now. It is the Mambo fabric from Windham and I just love it. I don't know why, but it makes me happy! Isn't it great???

I am making a pattern from the Quilts and More issue mentioned here. Actually, it is a web extra from their magazine and I downloaded the pattern here. They used the Calypso line of fabric, but I thought in lieu of purchasing more fabric, I would use what I already have. What a grand idea! I did actually start cutting it but didn't get to far. I guess I have to keep plugging away.I do have to catch up on all of the fabulous blogs that I have subscribed to. I love them all and get so much inspiration. You are all so talented. Slowly but surely I am getting to all of you. Thanks for all of your wonderful ideas. I have also just updated my website gallery with more customer quilts so check them out here. Also, if you would like to, I have a newsletter that I put out monthly, check it out and subscribe.

That's all for now....Happy Quilting!

Stinkin' Cute Bag!!

Since purchasing the most recent copy of Quilts and More magazine, I have ooogled over every project. Then this week I decided to act. On Friday night, I went to Honey, I've Gone Quilting night with my quilting buddies at my favorite local shop.

I started on this really cute bag in the magazine. All night I kept calling it the "Stinkin' Cute Bag" because it is just that! No really in the magazine it is called the Bloomin' Bag. Well you can judge for yourself because here it is.

I even had a wonderful model for the photo shoot. Doesn't the bag looks much better? Rolo, what a ham! He usually is trying to get in on things that are happening and loves his picture to be taken.

Also of note, I updated my website gallery with some beautiful customer quilts, please check it out here.

Yo-Yo's and Pincushions

I have been having so much fun!! I have been creating yo-yo's with some Kaffe Fassett fabric. I have been using this new tool from Clover and wow does it make it easier to do than the older methods. You can find the tool here or at your local quilt/craft shop. I used the XL yo-yo maker and the large yo-yo maker. They have other sizes available too.

This is what the tool looks like:
This is what the Yo-yo's look like, I love them sooooo cool and easy!

I also bought the floral yo-yo maker, but have not tried it yet. I have to use up all my squares of Kaffe fabric first.

Then I also wanted to try my hand at making a couple of pincushions. They are okay, not what I had envisioned. But I do like them.

Now I am going to get caught up on reading all of you blogs!!

Happy Quilting! Jackie

Lots of Photos from a Terrific Weekend...

This past weekend, my friend Pam and I went up to Vermont to finish our training on Autosketch. This program is a design program for the Statler Stitcher. Brian from Cowles did our training. Although it was a very long drive, as they are located right at the Canadian border, we took advantage of some stops along the way. Quilt shop stops.

Our first stop was as Country Treasures. We LOVED this store and spent a little more than 2 hours there. There was gads of fabric, literally room to room to room and an upstairs too!! The staff was very friendly and the customers as well. There was a class going on while we were there and they invited us in and gave us a show and tell. How great that was and inspirational. A great group of talented ladies and very warm and friendly.

The owner Sue was wonderful and allowed me to take many photos. So here they come. Make sure you click on them to enlarge to get the full effect of the store.
Lots and lots of fat quarter packs...

Lots of new fabrics...

Katie, she who helped Pam and I quite a bit and cut all of our fabrics.....Thanks Katie!!

30's lovers rejoice...the 30's room!!!

So that's it for Country Treasures. If you want to visit them they are in Vermont, click here for their information. If you get a chance to visit Country Treasures in Vermont, tell Sue that Jackie from CT sent you!

Then we had to recharge and ate lunch at the Heritage Deli. It was great and we met up with the ladies from the shop who were taking class that day.

Then on to Yankee Pride in Essex Junction. I forgot to take pictures there, but it was a great shop and I got some good deals on their 50% off rack!!

Well the rest of the trip was great. We learned autosketch and had a nice time visiting with Julie, Brian, and Beth. Thanks guys for taking good care of us. We did manage to stop back at Yankee Pride on the way home.

All in all it was a great trip with great company!

Jackie
