Paper Piecing Class Number 3

Hello Everyone,

On May 8, I shared with you the progress of my students in the paper piecing class.  Just click here to see the blog post.  I will wait for you to come back.

Okay, you're back... today's post shows the progress everyone made.  It was the last day of class and everyone is just about ready to piece their blocks together to make the quilt top!

Here is one version, all the center blocks are pieced and this is a possible layout.

These are Judy's border corner blocks.  We just arranged them this way because we liked they way it looked, but the will be the corners of the actual quilt top.

This is Noreen's scrappy version.  You really could just take the border corners and make them into a small table topper or pillow.  Very cool!

Here are some of Noreen's blocks.

These are the other Noreen's blocks, very soft lavender and pinks.  Just beautiful!

Another bright version.

So we decided to play again with Noreen's blocks.  Today, I showed them how to piece an "S" curve to piece the border blocks together.  Noreen was working really quick.  So we took one of her inner blocks and laid the border pieces around it to see what it would look like.  This is a great size for a table topper or small wall hanging.  I think I may have to make me one of these!!

And just thought I would share with you my version, which I call Chocolate Raspberry Truffle.

The pattern that I taught was...

... A Touch of Spring from Judy Niemeyer.  You can find it here in my shop and other wonderful patterns by Judy.

If you would like to see where I am teaching, just click here to see my schedule.  If you would like me to come to your guild or local shop, send me an e-mail and I will send you my information.

PPP... Paper Piecing Progress

Hello Everyone,

On Saturday, I taught the second class in our "A Touch Of Spring" paper piecing project.  I would like to share with you my student's progress thus far.

Noreen really did well with her homework.  She had tons of the various units complete.

Our two sisters in class did quite well too.  Love their blocks.

Such beauties... NY Beauties!

This is the OTHER Noreen's progress.  Yes, can you believe it two students with the name Noreen in the same class and both have very different styles.  Love this!

This is Rita's block.  She is doing one similar to my class sample with chocolate and raspberry batiks.  Love the combo!!

In this class, I taught them a very quick method to sewing curves! Here is Noreen's first block sewn together.

Then we worked on two new units that are part of the border.  Noreen got these done.  Next session, I will show them how to piece the "S" curve.

Here is Judy's "S" border unit.

This is Rita's Border corner unit.

The cool blues from Noreen's "S" units are awesome!

The other Noreen's corner border unit.

Last but not least Judy's quarter circle.  She is using a combo of cotton prints and batiks.

This is the pattern they are all working on... now can you envision each of their versions?  I am so looking forward to next class to see what they bring back!!

If you too, would like the pattern, you can purchase it here in my shop.  If you would like to take a class with me, you can see my schedule by clicking here.   If you would like me to come to your guild, or shop, just send me an e-mail.

Paper Piecing Class

Hello Everyone,

On Saturday, I taught another paper piecing class.  I had a fabulous group of ladies!  They all chose a variety of fabrics for the project.  This is probably my favorite part of teaching, seeing all the wonderful choices my students make.

This class was another Judy Niemeyer pattern, A Touch of Spring.  You can find the pattern here.

Working hard cutting out the foundation pieces using the quick cutting method.

Getting down to business sewing the arcs.

Quick cutting the fabric before piecing, using the template layout sheets.

Beginning to see all different results.  A lovely combination!

Almost ready to trim.

This version is going to be enchanting.  She is using all her scraps, but I love where this is headed.

A very productive day!  Arcs and quarter circles done.  Now they have homework for next week.  Stay tuned for progression photos!

This is the pattern we are working on in class, some students are actually making it larger.  If you would like to make this quilt, you can find the pattern by clicking here in my shop.

Until Next Time...

Thinking Spring

Hello Everyone

I don't know about your part of the world, but here in Connecticut we have been experiencing fabulously warm weather. Very unusual this time of the year when 46 degrees Fahrenheit is the normal. Being a warm weather fan, this is one of the best times of the year for me.

Do you remember this quilt?  This is "A Touch of Spring" or as I renamed it "Chocolate Raspberry Truffle".  I am revisiting this because I will be teaching it this spring.  Keep reading for the details.

Since we have been having warm weather, I took a stroll around my yard and found one bunch of daffodils blooming!! I couldn't believe my eyes.

Here is a little bit more of my Chocolate Raspberry Truffle.  Is it making you hungry to sew or to learn how to paper piece spikes, curves, and "S" curves?

Day lilies are sprouting up all over the yard.  Hoping Mother Nature doesn't decide to snow one last time. It has been known to happen and that doesn't thrill me too much.

Look even my lilac bushes are budding!  A beautiful almost cloudless day.  Couldn't ask for anything better.

Another large clump of daffodils coming up.  I must say that this is truly the earliest that I have ever seen this happening... unbelievable!  How is the weather in you neck of the woods??

Here is my whole quilt.  Yes, I have an upcoming class on this quilt and the various techniques involved, beginning in April.  If you are local or will be in Connecticut, I would love to have you in my class.  You can see the details on my schedule by clicking here.

If you would like to ask me some questions about the class send me and e-mail.

It is a Judy Niemeyer pattern and can be purchased in my shop by clicking here.

I hope that this post has put a little spring into your step!

Until Next Time...
