Hello Everyone,

Whichever you like to call it... it is done!! Remember on Wednesday I posted that my Design Team was not sure of the layout?  Well the final layout was decided and it is all sewn together.

I am happy with it, now onto the borders.  I have them cut out and ready to go on the design WALL!  The floor was temporary...

Close up... love the batiks!

Oh look, the design team is back giving the quilt top a seal of approval.  I think when they sit or lay on it that means it is good to go.  What do you think?

Look... Pavi is really loving the layout!  Watson did look a little indifferent. Either way it passed the cat-scan.

The Quilt Layout... With A Little Help From My Friends

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday, I began to layout my Indian Summer Quilt. But it was not met without a little bit of hilarity and frustration.  Let me explain...

It started off pretty good.  The layout looks great, but what is this???

An uninterested observer?  

I think not...  I believe he is contemplating when to make his "design move".

That didn't take long. This is a good spot to begin the inspection.  But wait, he calls in his partner.  He must need back up.

Yup, this design isn't going to work well.  

This is much better!

The Quilt Layout... With A Little Help From My Friends

Bittersweet

Hello Everyone,

Saturday was a bittersweet day for me.  My youngest child, my son, left home for college in AZ.  I am sooo proud of him.  He graduated High School early in January and is starting college this month!

He and his friend spent several days packing a rental truck to take his belongings and some of ours on the trek.

My husband and son are spending several days crossing the country and having a great time doing so, a true adventure.

I love my son so much and although I am grateful that he is doing so well and ready to begin a new chapter in his life, I truly will miss him coming through that door everyday.

And just like that he is gone.... 

I have had several status updates and they are having a great time on the way out.  At least I know that when he gets there he will be with family.

Not sure I am ready for the empty nest syndrome.  Although my daughter comes home for spring break on Friday, so I don't think I am "officially" an empty nester yet.

We Are Growing....

Hello Everyone,

Many of you may already have heard from my E-News or from Facebook.... but if you haven't, Canton Village Quilt Works is growing!!  My good friend Deb Mella has joined my team!!  I couldn't be more excited.  I would like to introduce her to you...

Deb has been quilting since 1995 and has a passion for the quilt industry.  Deb owned Gone Quilting in Canton, CT from 2005 – 2008.  During that time Deb managed a part-time staff of 8, worked full time outside of the business, vended at quilt shows and guild meetings and attended spring and fall quilt market shows.  Deb taught beginner to advanced classes at Gone Quilting and loved most the interaction with her customers and students.   Deb is a 6 year breast cancer survivor and is passionate about helping anyone with a diagnosis of breast cancer.

As a breast cancer survivor Deb is naturally drawn to all things pink!  She loves working with bright fabrics and batiks.  Some of her favorite quilts she has made are Judy Niemeyer quilts.  She has recently begun working on hand applique projects and loves making burp clothes and baby quilts with her daughters.

Deb lives with her husband Dave in Windsor, CT.   They have three children Erin, Jodi, Eric, a son-in-law Kevin and a 2 year old granddaughter Julia.  When Deb is not working or quilting you can find her spending time with her family.

Please join me in welcoming Deb to my team!  We will have great things in store for you, so keep your eyes open!!

Another One Done!!

Hello Everyone,

I realized last night that I had shared with you my finished Sunflower Illusions quilt top, but never showed you the finished quilt! "Oh NO... GASP..."  I said to myself. 

Wait no longer...

A little close up of the quilting.  I just did an overall design of leaves for texture.

I used a green variegated thread. 

You can see the quilting a little better on the back.  I love the look. 

And I love the batik that I used for the backing too.  This was from my online shop.  You can find batiks here.

I even put the label on too!!  How many of you are as bad as I am about getting labels on the back?  I totally am awful about it.... so this is a MAJOR accomplishment for me.

Another One Done!!

Wind It Up Wednesday

Hello Everyone,

Don't adjust your computer screens, it is Friday.  But I wanted to do a post about my day in the studio classroom on Wind it Up Wednesday.

The day started out great when Leslie brought in some show and tell.  She did a beautiful job and wonderful way to start the day!

Roberta got busy quilting her chevron quilt that she completed in the last open sew.

Karen brought in some show and tell... a little appliqué and piecing.  Beautiful!

Leslie started putting up her One Block Wonder on the design wall.  Wait until you see how this is turning out.

Karen began quilting this beauty she had last time at the open sew.

Ooooo... and I am in LOVE with Lorraine's Kaffe quilt.

Karen is busy quilting away.

Yay!! Roberta finished the quilting and is pretty happy too, don't you think?

Yay!  Look what Nancy finished... the Cactus Flower Table Runner from the class that she took from me!  It is gorgeous!!  Great job, Nancy!  The pattern can be found here.

Leslie finished the layout of her One Block Wonder!  It is gorgeous and she looks pretty pleased.

One last thing... Leslie brought in another show and tell.  It was an oldie, but is a goodie!!
