A True Beauty...

Hello Everyone,

Last week, my blogging friend Wanda of Exuberant Color, featured some mini quilts that she was making on her blog.  First let me begin by saying I have been following Wanda's blog since I can remember, probably since I started blogging in 2007.  Wanda has been a true inspiration to me and her creativity and love of color just keep me coming back for more.  Thank you, Wanda!  I look forward to many more years of following you!

If you don't know Wanda, just click here to see what I mean.

Anyway, back to the mini quilts... As soon as I laid eyes on them I was in love.  She had sold one, so I quickly e-mailed her and asked if she was willing to sell another.

The answer was yes and I was quick to reply and pay for the mini quilt that I desired.

Wanda created it from her batik scraps.  Many of you know how much I love batiks, so these were just calling to me.

This is the result.  It is about as big as a page of paper and is truly gorgeous.

Full of color and as vibrant as can be, don't you think?

Wanda recently had an exhibition in Charlotte.  If you follow her blog or not, she has some fabulous photos of the exhibit and all her quilts are just gorgeous.  If I could have, I would have loved to have seen it in person.  You can also click here to see all the quilts in the exhibit.

Another blogging friend, Vicki of Field Trips in Fiber, did get to see the exhibit and meet Wanda in person... lucky girl!!

So, I thought you might like to see where I have hung Wanda's quilt...

My son helped me hang it next to a mini quilt that I purchased from my friend Frances Holliday Alford, and my cover quilt!  My friend Justine framed the cover of the recent edition of Quilt Magazine, that featured my quilt on the cover, and gave it to me as a birthday gift.  Thank you, Justine!

This wall is right at the entrance to my studio, so I get to walk by it many times during the day.  They bring a smile to my face.  Wanda, your mini was a great addition.

Until Next Time...

Wanda is a 'true beauty' as well. I have learned SO much from her. You are so lucky to own one of her pieces.

Oooh nice! I love to see Wanda's work. I should have bought that one! LOL. But apparently you had the perfect place for it. The grouping just looks wonderful.

I got to see Wanda's exhibit at the end of the month. Although Wanda had gone home I did get to meet her daughter who is a wonderful mosaic artist and very nice person. I brought home a mug rug that was made from leftover triangles from one of her larger quilts. I LOVE it. And the quilt you bought is beautiful. I hadn't seen it before (no internet for a week).

Sadly, I have not been a follower of Wanda's but that is about to change. I learn more good stuff from you Jackie :0) Love this mini.....how did she piece it, can you tell?
Lovely grouping and I hope you have many more covers to come to add to your display.

Happy Sewing,
Kim

I'm definitely heading her way. That quilt is beautiful! I love how the planes of color and shape build the volume. Even in the smaller space!

You've definitely chosen the perfect display spot. Makes a great vignette.

How wonderful!!! And what a lovely, thoughtful friend to frame your mag cover for you. The three pieces look great together on the wall!

Wanda is wonderful, and almost single-handedly responsible for breaking me out of my little traditional quilter box and introducing me to the fabulous world of color -- Kaffe's, Batiks, and the like. Of course all of it has been via her blog. Isn't it great how the internet can hook gifted teachers up with willing learners to spread the exuberance?

I love the display with the 3 pieces and I'm certainly in good company with Frances' piece and your framed cover!! I had lots of new visitors today from your blog and a few new followers. Thanks!
