Quilters Take Manhattan Part 1

Hello Everyone,

As you know, I spent the weekend in NYC at the Quilters Take Manhattan event. All I can say is that I had a blast. I also promised to share this with you.

So let's get to it...

I stayed with my friend Victoria and as convenient as it would be the first event was at her home. We didn't have to go far. The first night The Alliance for American Quilts interviewed Victoria for the Quilter's SOS.

She had to pick a quilt, called her touchstone quilt, a quilt of significance. It was her Kitchen Sink Quilt. Then they did her "mug shot" in front of it as her interview will be entered into the Library of Congress.

You will be able to find the transcript of her interview by clicking here. Let me tell you that the interview was nothing less than fantastic!

A great picture of several of the Modern Connecticut Quilters with Victoria and friends.

Victoria and Jay McCarroll! For those of you who aren't familiar with him, he is the first winner of Project Runway and is a designer of clothing and quilting fabric with Free Spirit. You can find some of his fabric in my shop by clicking here.

Loved seeing my NYC Metro Mod Quilt Guild buddies!!

And guess who else was there the entire weekend.... Yes, Mark Lipinski! He can make any event just way too fun. Thanks Mark for brightening my weekend.

Here I am with our lovely panel of Modern Quilters, John Adams, Jennifer Paganelli, Kim H., Melanie Testa, and Nancy Soriano. All fabulous and all very diverse.

And how about this... Amy Milne, Executive Director of the Alliance and Mark Dunn, Owner of Moda Fabrics handing out door prizes! Just fabulous people and I was so happy to have met them!

More to come next post, so stayed tuned for some fun!

PS. There is a BIG sale going on in my shop right now... All Australian fabrics are marked down to $7.95 per yard through 8/12/11. Just click here to get started.

Until Next Time...

Can't wait to read part 2. What a fun time you had. Coming November I'll be meeting Amy too as I'm one of the volunteers for the QSOS at the International Quilt Festival in Houston :). I'm really looking forward to it. After reading your post a little more.

Thanks for sharing your expertise with such a wonderful event. Every where I am reading about this, they are saying you did an awesome job as moderator. You have just blossomed as a quilter, a woman, and a blogging online persona, Jackie..and that is such a role model for all those who now seek to follow in your quilting/quiltshop footsteps. Good on you in all ways!
