Blogging From Boston

Hello Everyone,

We arrived in Boston on Sunday afternoon and so far are having a wonderful time. Yesterday here is what we did...

We are here to do a lot of the above, college hunting. Northeastern University was our first stop. We enjoyed our tour and information session. Onto more tomorrow. From there we walked to here...

The Museum of Fine Arts, to see this...

Yes, I am finally going to get to see the Chihuly exhibit. But, I was so disappointed, they were closed for Patriots day!! So we are going back today!! And guess what they also have an African textile exhibit going on too. Happy day!!

Then we literally "ran" into this...

The Boston Marathon! Here are the runners at the 22 mile marker (well a little less than 22 miles, but when you have run that far who is really counting?) These people were just awe inspiring. We watched for about an hour and they just kept coming...

Tons of runners from every walk of life and age group! The male in the #1 spot is from Kenya and ran it in 2:03:02 and the female in the #1 spot is also from Kenya and ran it in 2:22:36. Simply amazing!! You can see more of the stats by clicking here.

Then it was off to here...

Fanueil Hall and Quincy Market. This is one of our favorite spots to visit in Boston. Great food, shopping, and street performers.

Here are some performers. These young women were hunched over and the performers did flips over them.

This man was just getting set up, but we didn't stay to watch. It looked like a torture device of sorts and he had a straight jacket in his hands. So who knows what he was going to do...

Then it was on to the North End of town for some good Italian eats! Being Italian, myself, I love to walk around here and find good food. The above photo was the scene from inside Mike's pastry shop. People apparently wait for their cannoli's. But that is not what I got, I grew up eating sfogliatelle.

They are my favorite and this one was delicious!

Then onto Regina Pizzeria. We were told that it is one of the best in Boston. So we thought we would give it a go.

Brick oven, been around for quite some time.

Here is what we had, half broccoli and half mushroom. It was good, but I must say that I have had better. Sorry to any of you who are Regina Pizzeria die hards. It was good though, I just prefer a thinner, crispier crust and not so much cheese. But, you should give it a try and see for yourself.

Anyway, tomorrow is another BIG day. Hoping to get some good college information and see Chihuly too.

***Don't forget to enter my giveaway going on now. There is still time, just click here and you could win some gorgeous fabric.***

Until Next Time...

Looks like you're taking time to turn the college hunt into fun. I need one of those pastries for breakfast. Enjoy your trip, tours, exhibits and all the yummy food.

Boston is a great place place to go to college- my sis and a very close friend attended BU and I visited both of them a number of times. I'm not a city person, but Boston has so much history. I saw a Chihuly exhibit in Phoenix at the Desert Museum-- it was all outdoors and it was AMAZING!!! You will love it! Also, if you like thin, crispy pizza, then you have to visit Sally's Pizza on Wooster street in New Haven (a little closer to home), but go early or there will be a line down the street (kind of like at the pastry shop you went to). Have a great visit in Boston!

Part 2: I think MA is the only state that celebrates Patriots Day! So cool that you got to see the marathon runners!! It always gives me chills to see them running near the end b/c you know they've trained so hard. Can't wait to hear (read) more about your visit-- thanks for sharing! Keep that camera battery charged!!

Every time we went to Boston, we got lost, lol.
Now that we have a gps, we might be able to drive around without spending half the day figuring out where we are.

You are in my old stomping ground...every time my Dad picked me up at Logan airport we stopped at Mikes! (My Dad was the middle school principal at the Michelangelo school down the North End...)

Have fun!

I'm glad you all are having fun.
We did Boston last summer as my daughter was interested in BU (my brother went there in the 70's) It was so unbelievably hot we were miserable the whole time. Maybe we should have gone in the spring.

Thanks for the tour of Boston, I've only been there once, scoping out schools with my daughter. She went with the University of Southern California, but I never felt that our trip to Boston was a waste of time, it has its own personality. It was wonderful to see it again.

My son is graduating from Northeastern University in a couple of weeks. He had a fantastic time; their coop program is next to non. He had a great exchange semester in Hong Kong, worked in Boston for 6 month and in Shanghai for another 6 month. He really is well prepared for what is to come. I'm looking forward to our visit there, the only thing missing is a quilt shop. Or have you found one by any chance?

Thank you for sharing your pictures. I moved to Massachusetts in December but haven't done too much exploring yet. I did take my first subway ever to go to Fanueil hall. I really liked that. I'm not a city girl so I'm taking my trips into the city in small doses.

I went to Wentworth, just across from mfa and next to Northeastern. Love Mikes, I miss it so much. They don't have good canolis out here in SoCal. And the ricotta pie. And Buzzy's roast beef, and Sami's kabobs. It's the only other place I'd live outside of SoCal.
