Flying

Hello Everyone,

Some of you may know that my hubby flies.  He has been after me for several years to take the Pinch Hitter course.  That is when I learn how to land the plane in case something happens to him.  Well, yes I finally started learning a few weeks ago.  I wanted to give you a few glimpses into the lessons and my journey.

Here I am in the right seat getting ready to take off.

There is my hubby with the plane.

This was the first time my hubby had to ride in the backseat and he said it was comfy!

Our friend and my Flight Instructor, Scott.

This was taken a few weeks back during peak fall foliage in New England.  Glorious!

This was taken the following week, you can see how the leaves have changed and many have fallen.

A view of Hartford and the Connecticut River.

Yesterday, there was no lesson for me only a jaunt to Block Island with friends.  This is coastline of Block Island, pretty isn't it?

On the approach to the airport at Block Island.  Just a glorious day!  Who would think it was November?

The hubs and I at the Block Island airport.

Our friends Lisa and Kurt.

The approach back to Hartford.  This was taken actually a few weeks back.  Today, as you read this I may actually be landing the plane over and over again.  Wish me luck!

I must say beginning this adventure was a little nerve racking, but I am becoming more and more relaxed as I go along.

Until Next Time...

wow, I think it is a great idea for you to know how to do this - like you say one never knows and you might like it so much you will be fighting with hubby on how flies the plane. CT is beautiful.

How exciting what a wonderful skill to learn and such beautiful surroundings. When my husband I first got married we were going to move to Hartford, CT but we stayed on Long Island, NY.

I always wanted my pilots license but never got it, had to settle for a motorcycle instead :0).
You go girl, there isn't anything we can't do!

You are such a brave soul! And yes, if you are with your husband, it's good to have a background to know what to do if something happens to him enroute. I loved hearing of your family experiences of flying on our way to Houston.

Exciting to pilot a plane, I'll bet. More impressive was the fall foliage from altitude. Quite stunning

Is it true that "any landing you can walk away from is a good one"? Just sayin'
