Bounce

Hello Everyone,

How many of you use dryer sheets?  I do, and tend to use a lot.  Not only do I have quite a bit of laundry to do, but I am also a BIG pre-washer of fabric.

So when I was sent this Bounce Dryer Bar to try, I was very curious.

It says that it will last for 3 months.  In this house that is a ton of dryer sheets.

All you have to do is stick it to the inside of your dyer and leave it there.  Sounds simple enough, right?

Then put in all your laundry, precious fabrics from the washing machine.  These are all my African fabrics all wet and ready to be dried.

Give them a whirl in the dryer and voila!  They are now all dry and no static and smell nice.  The dryer bar does collect a little bit of lint.  If you click on the photo you can see the remnant of lint.

Since these photos, I have washed tons of fabric and clothing and it is working really well.  A wee bit more linty, but still doing it's thing.  Plus, I haven't used one dryer sheet!!

How many of you use dryer sheets?  How many of you use the Bounce dryer bar?  What do you think?

As you read this post, I am on my way to Quilt Market... very excited!! I will be giving frequent updates via Facebook and will also be blogging too.  So stay tuned!

Until Next Time...

I "never" use dryer sheets.
& I have never heard of anyone using them when they were pre-washing fabric.
Meanwhile, I don't pre-wash, but when I iron or press, I use one of those Mary Ellen starches that has a scent.

I wash and dry my fabrics and I use dryer sheets. I put one of those bars in my BRAND NEW dryer and it came off!! Dented the inside of my dryer. I was NOT a happy camper!

I do pre-wash and dry my fabrics but I've never used the dryer bar. I like the dryer sheets. To market, to market...can't wait for updates.

We have a combo washer/dryer (it all takes place in the same drum) so I can't use fabric sheets or the bar -- I have to use liquid fabric softener. Have fun at market!!! :)

I wish I could remember who, but I recall reading someone's(quilter) blog post that didn't care for those due to an issue created with fabric/finished quilts?

Safe travels, can't wait to see all the market photos!

I have used dryer sheets for years - I use the bounce with no scent - (allergies) I had seen these new bars but hadn't gotten them. Let us know if you continue to like them.

hhmmmm my problem would be to remember to change it! I forget to change my water filter in my fridge every three months and I use the heck out of that thing. It is not as if you can keep count of the number of loads you do and three months for a couple is a LOT different than three months of laundry for a family of five. Not sure if I would like to use these for my big family, but i could see it if you were doing it for just couple or a single person.

I never use dryer sheets. As best as I can tell, they don't really do anything. My clothes had static even when I used them....unscented ones. Scented fabrics is the primary reason that I don't quilt for others and I never accept donated fabric. You can't ever get the scent out of the fabric/clothing.

I love my Bounce Bar.. LOVE IT! I have gone through several now, and replace the bar alone, not the stick on.. well, it does eventually come un-stuck, so I had to replace that part, but just put it back in the same place. The only thing I have that comes out with static are a pair of very plushy sweat pants.. and everything smells SO nice all of the time, I cannot complain.

thanks for the tip I'll have to pick one up!

I love dryer sheets, (unscented or "outdoor fresh" only), and notice a big difference in the feel of both my fabric and clothing when I occasionally forget to toss one in. Might try a bar someday, but just restocked the sheets, so will use those up first. Thanks for posting this review.

I use dryer sheets cut in half and it works fine.

I bought a dryer bar once, and HATED it! it didn't make my clothes as soft adn static free as teh costco brand dryer sheets and I couldn't stand teh smell. I am glad you like it, but I was so happy when it ran out finally!

How interesting, I don't use dryer sheets either, I'm not even sure we can get them here.
Can't wait to hear news about market, have a great time.

Some of those African fabrics look familiar! Did you get some of those from me? I never use dryer sheets. I do no like the smell of Bounce. It is a pain in the winter with the static sometimes though.

I use half an unscented dryer sheet for each load of laundry, but I don't use them for quilt fabric.
Avoid over-drying the clothes. Check them about 10 or 15 minutes before the end of the cycle. Many times, I find them already dry enough. I shake them out, hang them up and let them "finish" on the hanger on the basement clothesline before I put them away.
The fake scents in laundry products bother me, so I take an old washcloth, put a drop or two of lavender essential oil on it and toss it in the dryer with the damp clothes. The lavender removes any bad smells (like from a high-efficiency washer which develops a musty odor) and leaves a barely noticeable scent of its own. Works like a charm.

I do use dryer sheets for some clothes but never for towels (they are less absorbent when you use fabric softener) and never for prewashing fabric. I do fusible applique at times and using fabric softener inhibits the ability of the fusible. Otherwise it would be convenient.

I use 1/2 sheet for some clothes. Not for quilt fabric, sheets and towels. I run a "cleaning" cycle on my washer ever 3-6 months. Run a short cycle with 1 cup bleach, without clothes. This prevents musty smells. Then run a cycle with whites before running colors.
