A Little Bandit Came to Visit

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday I was working in my studio and looked out the window into my back yard and saw a little bandit digging in the yard!! Well this little critter was not so little. I had fun watching this guy, as did my kitty Pavi.

When the raccoon was all done foraging he decided to climb a tree for a little snooze, so I was able to get some photos.

The perfect spot in the crook of the tree, cleaning his little paw.

Zooming out for some perspective.

Even further.

See the big tree in the middle, that is the tree he was in and I took the photos through the window and the screen. Not too bad. I had a great time watching him. But alas, he did not hang around all day.

One thing that I had always heard was that raccoons out during the day are rabid. But I contacted Animal Control and they said that is not necessarily true. In this case, he was just looking for food. Cute to watch and I just love the bandit look!

Please stop by here and read my newest blog post. I would love for you to say hello!

***Today is the LAST day of the batik sale!! They are only $7.50 per yard, click here to start shopping.***

Until Next Time...

we have raccoons around here and they get into the cat food and bird food sometimes but I actually rarely see them. One problem parts of Arkansas is having right now are rabid skunks and I have heard that if you see them in the daytime you need to report it.
Glad that isn't the case with the raccoons in your area

If you're sad about the raccoon leaving, I have one in my attic right that I'd be happy to give you.

He's been with us for a while now and he doesn't show any sign of leaving...no matter how hard we try to make him...LOL. So I know he'd stick around if I gave him to you now.

Cute from afar but not too cute when they take up residence in your yard and poop on your roof--ask me how I know...sigh...

We hand raised a coon from when he was a baby and his eyes were still shut, till he was almost a year old, then we let him outside to do his own thing. when he heard us pull in the driveway he would come scuttling down the tree to see us. after about 9 months of being free he started to get aggressive, so we had to start being meaner to him, so he would just go and be wild. he found himself a hollow in a tree in the yard and hung around for about 4 more months till he got so fat he couldn't fit in that hollow anymore, and then slowly we stopped seeing him around.

they are fine until they are on the back porch when you get home and want in the house.

worse though was the skunk that settled in under the grill for a nap. had to go in the window into the living room.

Hi Jackie, I'm a new reader :) Found you through Fat Quarterly. What kind of camera do you have. I am saving up for a new one. That is amazing you could get that shot through a screen. Can you email me and let me know what you have? Many Thanks,
KimberJ
