A Little Christmas In The Air

Hello Everyone,

I thought I would show you a little of the Christmas decorations around our home. Since we had our first snow yesterday, I really feel the holidays arriving quickly! First up our tree.

You will notice several things different about it this year. We did not string our normal beads on them, nor do we have ornaments hanging near the bottom. Why you ask? Because of our newest cat that we adopted in July. You will recall by clicking here. We just weren't sure of how he would be with the tree and decided not to chance it at all.

Next up our ever growing nutcracker collection. I started this tradition with our kids years ago. Each Christmas they each get a new and unique nutcracker. When they finally have their own home they can take them with and start it with their family. What traditions do you have?

I really love the variety that we have and I try to choose ones that suit the kids personalities.

Here is our Nativity. Yes, this is the Jim Shore Nativity set. I just fell in love with it years ago when he first came out with it and had to have it. The kids enjoy setting it up every year.

Last but not least, the boys are just totally pooped from all this decorating. So Rolo and Pavi are relaxing by the tree.

Now for me off to do some shopping! Still a bit left to do and not a lot of time to spare. Don't forget today is the last day to use the coupon code happy20 on my online fabric shop. You'll get 20% off your order. So go ahead and do some last minute Christmas shopping for your quilting buddy. Enjoy!

Until Next Time...

Because of Abby we have a table top tree and so far the only things she's been curious about is the tinsel! I found some hanging from her snout. I have an ornament each year since my birth and I started that tradition with my kids. It's such fun to open the ornament boxes.

Hi Jackie - love your decorations! The nutcrackers are an interesting tradition - seems to be an endless supply of variety!

Merry Christmas!!

Your nutcracker collection is impressive. I'm guessing you have a lot of memories for each one.
I'm sure the reason your cats need a nap is because they really worked hard helping you decorate.

I love the nutcrackers - I only have two of them!! Seeing all of yours makes me want to run out and start a collection! I love seeing how others decorate for Christmas it gives me ideas. I will post a photo later of the Jim Shore items I have - I don't have the nativity scene though.

The tree looks so pretty and I love all of the Nutcrackers. The kids will cherish those for years.

I, too, have the same naivity set. I loved it at first glance.

My kids each got at least one new ornament each year that was their own...so they had a nice collection by the time they went off on their own. I love your nativity. I have a Jim Shore collection of figurines but won't get his nativity, because hubby made the stable for our present nativity figures, so that is what we put up each year.

I learned many years ago that pretty ornaments within paw's reach were a recipe for disaster! We have a small tree that sits on top of the piano, out of kitty reach. Your tree looks wonderful and I absolutely love all those nutcrackers.

The nutcracker tradition must be so fun for your kids and it will be so nice to have a few decorations when they start their own homes.

Hi! My name is erica. Would you be my friend? said...

Oh I love this post Jackie...it makes me feel all christmas-y! I really like the nutcracker idea. I 'collect' snowmen. I haven't bought too many new ones in a bit...not sure why??? Last year I started a new thing where the kids would get a new pair of jammies for christmas. This year I've decided to put a treasure hunt-style clue in the 12th day of the advent calendar instead of candy. Then they'll have to find their jammies.

My cat also like to play with the ornaments. and eat the tree...

Love your nutcrackers. So adorable.. Great idea for the kids, my sister did that with her kids. My little dog eats pens and anything he can chew on, must remember to buy more chew toys. Hope your cat doesn't knock down the tree. Will check out your store. Looking for Authentic by Sweetwater for Moda.

since i'm snowed in, i think i'll try and get some decorating done tonight. the tree is up, but bare. i love the nutcracker idea. i've done the same with ornaments for my boys. someday they'll walk away with a tree full or ornament memories. the tree is beautiful (i think leaving the bottom bare was pretty smart of you!)

Love Jim Shore! We also set up our Jim Shore nativity! We also set up our New England Villages--now in three rooms...and our stain-glassed handmade angels. Each year I buy an ornament for each child, and when they move to their first home, they will have a beautiful tree with many memories. Happy holidays!

I enjoyed all your Christmas decorations, but I especially love your sofa! My husband and I inherited an OLD sofa when we got married and my mom and I recovered it using denim and the plaid fabric yours is covered with. I still love that fabric 13 years later--that's the sofa my babies played on!

Awwww....Rolo and Pavi are so cute sleeping together. I have one cat and I've wondered if she needs to have a friend around to keep her company.
The nutcrackers are a fun tradition. I collect snowmen.

Oh beautiful decorations Jackie, thank you for sharing them. I cannot imagine a white Christmas, is it lovely? We are often so hot here at Christmas, so different isn't it? xo

What a fun collection of nutcrackers, Jackie. I love that penguin! We buy or make an ornament with the year on it each year, but your nutcracker collection takes the cake!

I collect nutcrackers, too. I'll have to drop a hint as I haven't received one as a gift recently, LOL. Are the cats getting along better now? Looks like it!
