This Little Kitty Needs a Name....

Hello Everyone,

For those of you who have been reading my blog for a while you know that I have cats and adore them. Well, after not too much thinking, my daughter and I went to the Humane Society today and adopted another. This one is a kitten!! He is just adorable. So let me tell you a little about him.

He has tabby colored spots, but is mostly white.

Cute little pink ears, nose, and lips.

Very playful as he is only 3 months old.

Loves his feather toy.

Tries to hang on.

Purrs very loudly, melting your heart.

Loves to jump and is quite the acrobat.

And is just too darn cute.

But the dilemma remains that the Humane Society gave him the name of "Kyle". We don't think it fits him. So we need some help.

Please leave a comment with your name suggestion. If we choose one of the names from the comments, I will send the WINNER a wonderful charm pack of fabric. Looking forward to some of the names. Thanks!

Until Next Time....

Asparagus/Gus - from the musical Cats!

My daughter suggested "Lucky". I kind of like that! :0)

Definitely not Kyle. He's super cute so I will say Max (for maxiumum cute of course). How have your others cats accepted him?

KG said...

Hmm. This sounds like a job for your older brother, he being a great lover of cats as well.

Perhaps a name from a historical leader - Mao, Winston . . . But as you know, I am hopeless with male names.

PS - all caught up on your blog now that I am outside of the firewall.

Oh, my gosh -- he is adorable!!! How about Joey?

Karmen said...

Maybe Hammond? McGuyver? Bruce (as in Lee), or Taebo? or gentlemanly like Beau? or timely like Bernie (madeoff-with-the-money)or homage to Frank McCort (Angela's Ashes author who died today). You could call him Frank, he and the author both came from tragic beginnings.

He looks like a Sammy to me! (You are right....he does not look like a Kyle.)

I agree kyle does not suit him, what about Felix or Pussikins

Sooo cute! How about Bobby? Or maybe since you have Rolo (a chocolate carmel candy) and Beanie (jelly beans) you should go with a name like Skittles.

He's a sweetie! I too love cats, especially my beloved Max, who's been with for 11 years now.
How about Monk? Could be short for Monkey, but I was thinking his face reminded me of a monk's - with the black framing his white face like a Monk's haircut!
The other name I came up with is Casper, except he isn't totally white. That's ok. It's still a neat name. :0)

I'd say GoGo. I'd have said Amigo, but it's hard to shorten that. Unless, of course, it was GoGo. :) What a cutie!

Hi Jackie--my first thought was "Gus" but then I read about your others having candy names well, maybe you should start there--what about Mars--yep--before he is 6 months old you will be awant'n to send him to outter space--at least for a few hours---and I did like Carolyn's name--Skittles--so there you have it--those are my choices and "I am stitching to them" Hugs, just, Di

How about Trax. His coloring makes him look like he has footprints on a white coat.

He has such a sweet face I'm trying to come up with something suitable. He could be a Miles or Charlie. Whatever you come up with he sure looks adorable!

He's so sweet and I just love his pink ears. How about Gumby.

As I came on your blog and saw the cat, i said, "oh look at Mr. Softie!"
then at the end you asked for a name. well, He's Mr. Softie in my eyes! he is so cute! his face is very pink!

How about Maggs after one of my favorite Detroit Tigers, Magglio Ordonez? Or Grandy? Or Robbie? He's adorable.

Ryan said...

What a cutie... How about Maybe. As in maybe I'll adopt and cat or maybe I won't.... :)

Unknown said...

Cute kitty! I was thinking "Pinky" but he's a boy! So maybe Oliver? Good for you guys rescuing this sweet cat :)

Anina said...

I'd have to go with Sammy because I miss my Samson who just disappeared one day last year.

Hello from Finland! I think it is always difficult to name an animal if you do not spend some time with them first.... Sometimes you give a name and then it just does not suit them at all.
Hmmm...? He seems to have a little bit of this and that and his colors are in random order. So I´d say : RANDOM
I love the kind of hat he seems to have....

Annika said...

I´d say JAMES. Because a cat should have the letter S in the name. And James suits good with Jackie :)

Anonymous said...

I think he's a "Terry". :)

Have fun with him!

Kenton and Marianne Ogg said...

I like the whole candy theme, but am also more of an ordinary name person. In combination of both...Brach- pronounced Brock but spelled like the candy. Or Necco, like the wafers.

Well done Jackie for getting a rescue critter. I love his toupee. Precious one of our hounds has one too.

His nose and ears reminded me of sugared almonds and his eyes are an almond shape so I would suggest Mondee.

He does look like a lot of fun.

Hi Jackie,
ooooh - he's sooo cute! And so lucky to be with you know.
Hmmm...I always like "strange" names for pets (some would say oldfashioned or ugly...I'd rather prefer funny).
So my first thought was Hartmut *g*.
No, that wouldn't fit either...maybe Feliz? Munchkin? Don't know...hope you find HIS name...
Have fun with your new bundle,
Julia

How issisistable is he!!! So cute! I recently read a beautiful true story about a kitten who was found in a library shute after being dumped there overnight when the temperature was way below zero. His name was Dewey and he lived in the library for almost 19 years and he was quite a character. So I reckon DEWEY would suite this adorable bundle of fun. I also think MONTY would be good.

He is simply divine, What a wonderful kitty, and to see him so happy i would call him Biscuit

How cute!! I also love cats (I have two!)
I would say "Miko" or "Jimbo"...
It's getting hard to choose with so beautiful names that have been suggested already!

He is so precious! In the last photo the black spot on his back looks like a heart so my name for him is Romeo.

Thank goodness you brought him home. Can't think of a name right off though.

How about buttons!!!?? Enjoy him!

His ears stood out the first time I looked at the picture, so I think he should be named after my favorite Star Trek personality, Spock. He's cute and appears to have lots of personality!

Chris@Cats On My Quilts said...

I have named past cats after spices and he looks like Pepper to me. A little spicy and never bland.

Heidi said...

Rizzo after that cute little rat character from the Muppet Show (http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Rizzo_the_Rat) or maybe Pepe the king prawn (http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Pepe_the_King_Prawn)

Oh he's adorable, hmm how about cfer, as in C for cat.

Nancy said...

Spock.......... he looks very thoughtful in these pictures but seems to be wrestling with his emotions.

PamB said...

Love the kitten, the name Spanky come to mind.

Susan said...

When I saw the pictures I thought of "Spoots" as in Boots with an SP...

He is certainly a sweetie though! Lucky you!

Sounds like he is already the apple of your eye. How about Mac short for macintosh? He is purrfect!

Very cute kitty :) First name that popped into my head when I saw his pic was "Herbie" after the love bug. He does look like a love bug. Have fun Kathie k.bugbee@att.net

His ears and nose match all of the pinks in the pictures! It is so adorable. Therefore, I have to go with the very unconventional name of Pinks.

Paula, the quilter said...

If you pronounce Kyle to rhyme with 'while' or 'smile' then it does not fit him. But if you pronounce it KylE with a long eeee sound it fits better and rolls off the tongue better.

What about Bobbin, or Bob for short? I hope no one mentioned that one yet. He's sure cute!

HI Jackie,
I think you should name him Picasso - I read about someone who had a pet named Picasso and I thought it was a great name- It seems fitting for a male cat with irregular spots- There are lots of shortened names to choose from PC, Cass, ..
He is very cute and kittens are great fun. Enjoy..
Regards,
Anna

Good luck with finding him a lovely name...

Oh he is so incredibly cute. I love him!!! SO sweeeet. I'm so goad it worked out. I like the name Buster. I don't know why.

I love him - I have 3 male kitties myself - Marley, Kasper and Tizer. Some great suggestions for names but I was trying to think of something to suit a quilters cat so how about Bobbin - lol !

Hello Jackie, I like how is head spot are parted by the little white line...and clearly he is going to stick close...how about Partner?

You definitely have a cute kitten. My suggestion is the name of the host of a children's TV show in the 1950s. This guy had high energy, did a lot of crazy dancing, and did all kinds of silly things (like your kitten?) Some say Pee-Wee's Playhouse and the Howdy Doody Show imitated this guy's show. He went by the name Pinky Lee. Sounds like a kitten name to me.

I'm terrible with names -- but he sure is a keeper. So cute!

Being allergic to cats, yet liking them so very much I just enjoy the pictures on many blogs. Your pink eared kitty is precious. If he were mine I would call him Mr. Pink. Sarahe4e

How about Neopolatin, like the ice cream. Neo for short, of course.

Rafael's Mum said...

Quite a few nice suggestions there allready! A few from the musical Cats, which of course springs to mind. Staying with that, I would prefer Mr. Mistofeles, the conjuring cat, as he looks like a kitty who could conjure up some tricks! And it could be Misty for short, as the patches on his coat look quite misty! (making it up as I go along:-)
Do like the name though. I love trying to solve a 'mystery' (ok, I'll stop now :-)

Jodie said...

He is not kyle...he is a sweet liitle biscuit...

Carol said...

Such a playful kitten! Kyle is the name of my son's best friend from high school, and definitely NOT a name I would ever give to a kitten! Since he is black and white, how about Sylvester? With his pink colorations, maybe he is a Pink Panther? LOL I just watched the movie on DVD yesterday. . . Maybe he is too sweet for a panther. . . how about Puddin?

Tracey said...

Very cute .. hows about Oscar ?

What a cute little kitty! How about Spot?

Ode To Spot

Felis Cattus,

is your taxonomic nomenclature,
an endothermic quadruped carnivorous by nature?

Your visual, olfactory and auditory senses
contribute to your hunting skills, and natural defenses.

I find myself intrigued by your subvocal oscillations,
a singular development of cat communications

that obviates your basic hedonistic predilection
for a rhythmic stroking of your fur, to demonstrate affection.

A tail is quite essential for your acrobatic talents;
you would not be so agile if you lacked its counterbalance.

And when not being utilized to aide in locomotion,
it often serves to illustrate the state of your emotion.

O Spot,
the complex levels of behaviour you display
connote a fairly well-developed cognitive array.

And though you are not sentient,
Spot,
and do not comprehend,
I nonetheless consider you a true and valued friend.

ttfn :) Yuki

When I was a kid everyone always laughed at me cause I named everything Patches. I had kittens and dolls......But he definately looks like a Patches to me.

Such a cute little guy. Besides his pink nose, ears and mouth, I noticed how well his fur goes with the pink bed and pink rug in the background. First thing came to my mind was Pink Panther.

Cinder or Jasper? This is still not going to be easy with all the suggestions you are getting.... :P

since you like to name your cats after candy, why not sugar baby? suga for short, would work well here in the south *grin*. although I do like the name SPOt or Mr SPock or name him after a 101 dalmation puppys since he is black and white....it could go on forever with this naming! (mauh) Liz

strawberrycream39 said...

That is so great that you adopted another cat!! We have two from a shelter and we love them to pieces. Your cutie pie looks like a "Scooter" to me...scooting around and everything. Have fun with him!

Lisa said...

I'm with Kerry on this- he looks like a Patches to me, too!

Or how about Polky-Dotters-Spotty-Spot? LOL!

My cats get one name and then about a dozen nicknames, and they seem to acquire those while doing many naughty things. "Kyle" certainly looks like he could get up to some mischief! Has he discovered your stash yet?

hetty said...

He's adorable! Good for you for adopting a kitten from the Humane Society. As a quilter I like the name Patch or Patches. But I think he looks like a Smudge. And I love his little pink ears!

machen und tun said...

definitely a "Rasmus" :-)
such a sweet little guy..

Linda said...

What a little sweetie! He's a lucky fella to have found such a loving home. How in the world did the shelter come up with Kyle as a cat's name? Yes, you can definitely do better.

I like a few of the names mentioned above, including Snickers, Bobbin and Skittles.

However, my submission is Snippet.

How about Scrappy? Flynn? Scout (13yo dd's suggestion)?

How about Patches?

Then you'd need to make him his very own patchwork quilt.

He looks very happy and content in his new home.

Deb said...

how about "Panda" with the black and white markings I think he is something like a panda bear..

dutchcomfort said...

I’ve come here via Anina’s blog Twiddletails admiring your pre-cut fabrics, your quilting and the new kitty!

Maybe Spot would be a right name, he has a lot of lovely spots and he spots a lot.

And how about a real Dutch name like Mr. Jansen?

Dresden Quilter said...

In the last picture, the marking on his side make me think of a panther or lynx, so that is my suggestion. I know, it's like reading the clouds in the sky.

Christine said...

Hi Jackie,
I love the adorable addition to your family. What do the other cats think of him?
For some reason, Sebastian popped into my mind. Maybe Seb for short?

Oliver would like to say he likes his name very much and would be honoured to have a namesake in the US! (He is also known as Olly or on formal occasions Oliver Henry.)

Good luck choosing a name.
