Flower Power

Hello Everyone,

I hope that everyone has had a terrific week! I have, this is the first week that I feel we have had some "summer" weather. I am so happy, I live for the heat. Apparently, my flowers do too. I can't believe I actually have these flowers growing in my garden.

This is the first year that I planted them and they are gorgeous! I just love the colors.

Don't you just love them? I can't remember, but I think they are Dahlias. Do any of you know for sure?

On another note, I recently won a giveaway on Kim's blog and received these wonderful little goodies. The bag is soooo cute and, of course, also has flowers on it. She included a 1930's repro fat quarter (which I love!!) and 2 bars of truffles and a popcorn corn on the cob.

What is in the picture is what is left. I couldn't wait to eat the goodies. I savored the Utah Chocolate Raspberry Truffle (a favorite) and ate the popcorn promptly! I couldn't help myself... YUM! Thanks so much, Kim!

Even with the sun out this week, I did manage to get some sewing in and added some new things to my Etsy shop.

But the big news is that I posted my 4th Podcast episode. It is available here and also on iTunes. This Podcast is all about batting... the different kinds available, how to choose what is right for you quilting project, and terminology that you might often hear. If you subscribe to my Podcast through iTunes, would you mind taking the time to leave a review there. I would greatly appreciate it. I hope you enjoy this one. I am having lots of fun doing them!!

Also, my monthly E-newsletter has gone out and is also available here for you to read.

Well I am off to enjoy the sunny weekend here! It is going to be a perfect 2 days.... 0% chance of rain. Yahoo!!

Edit: I forgot to mention 2 spectacular giveaways...

Go check them out!

Until Next Time....

Yes, those are dahlias. My grandmother used to grow them. She had some that the blooms were as big as a dinner plate! :0)

I think the Dahlias are so pretty but have never planted them. I think you have to dig them up in the fall and replant in the spring. Anyway they are beautiful! And it has been a perfect summer for the flowers. I have only had the hose out once to water them.

How fun that you won Kims giveaway. I want to make one of those little bags. I saw them at her house in June and I knew they would be a hit. I think she got the highest number of visits so far on Moda Bake Shop for that post.
And the Utah Truffles! My favorite candy bar. I love chocolate/chocolate one the best.

Jackie beautiful flowers! I can't stand the heat LOL!
Utah truffles (are they Mrs Cavanaghs?) I adore the mint ones.

HUGS! Carin

Your flowers are lovely, Jackie! I have to say, though, that while it finally feels like summer in our area (I'm just downstate :D), I REALLY am looking forward to fall. It's my favorite time of the year, and hot sticky summer? Not so much.

(Besides, not much call for snuggling under a quilt when it's 85!) Enjoy the sunny weekend, tho!

Jackie,

I'm so glad the package came safely and that you loved the goodies. The truffles are not Mrs. Cavanaugh's Chocolate but made by another company here in Utah. They are sooo good! The popcorn is a new regional favorite and is now being seen in Idaho and I think Colorado.

Hugs, Kim

Jackie,
For a minute I thought you lived in the Pacific Northwest. We, too, have had a cool summer. Thanks for your informative podcast on battings. And your dahlias are beautiful.

I'm so glad you won Kim's giveaway. She and you are both good friends so it is fun you have a connection with each other too. You are both equally talented I'd say, too. How fun. The flowers are out of this world. I love big flowers and I love red. It doesn't get better than these.

Beautiful dahlias! That is one flower I do not have in my garden.
