All Cut and Raring to Go!

Hello Everyone,

I began cutting out the first one of my Star Crazy BOM's. Yes, the first one is going to be made with 1930's repro fabrics, which I just adore!!

I know it is a big deviation from the what they are suggesting you use, but I don't always follow instructions.

Not that I don't want to follow them, but I really enjoy experimenting with different color ways and it also gives me a great opportunity to use my stash fabrics.

I plan on making this one very scrappy. So each month you will not see these same fabrics above. There will be different purples, pinks, blues, and oranges. I really want to give it that "old fashioned" feel. I love the sample that they made up very much and I am going to do my own take on the bright quilt. That is why I am making two.

But you will have to wait just a little while longer to see that one, because I am waiting on the background fabric. It is on order. I will most likely cut out the brights over the weekend. Don't forget to go over to Nedra's if you want to join us in making this BOM. We have quite a few people. The more the merrier!

Now onto the piecing!!

Just a reminder today is the last day of the sale and giveaway on my online fabric store! Get your 20% off before it is too late by using the code new2010.

Until Next Time....

I will be using quite a variety of fabrics too - I bet all of these quilts will look totally different. I think I will have my background fabric by Saturday or Monday so I will get started then on my scrappy version.

Can't wait to see the end result! It will be fun to see the difference between the two quilts using the different bold contrasting fabrics that you are planning.

I'm going to enjoy following along Jackie. I don't always follow instructions either, I like to make a quilt or project my own.

My girlfriend Ann is still trying to decide if she has the time to join us. She was saying she wanted to use Aunt Gracie prints. I will have her look at yours, because then she won't be able to resist!
I'm still trying to figure out how to put wording on the header, and hope to have the new blog up soon.

How fun! I have all of my HSTs sewn, cut and de-papered so I am going to iron them today and get started on the blocks. Mine are in asian inspired fabrics (still bright) so a little different as well.

I've never thanked you for sending me over to Nedra's blog so I could join the fun. *S*....Or for the nice sale in your shop that I took advantage of.

I have one little charity project to finish up here first, then I'm jumping right in.

"On order".....worst words in the world.....

I personally think "directions" are merely suggestions for those who lack creativity to come up with their own ideas. Of course, I think the same for speed limits.

This is going to be stunning! I still haven't decided what fabrics to use... when the post gets through the snow we have here I have some new fabrics coming - I want to wait and see what comes. But I have got my instructions folder all made up ready to go!

I can't wait to see the quilt progress and the fabrics you choose. I love using scraps so much, that I never use the new ones, time to use them, this year.
