1930s Stars Complete

Hello Everyone,

So today I am taking my last class at QBTY for the Hunter's Star quilt. But in the meantime, I wanted to share with you my Star Crazy BOM finishes for the first month!! Yes, among all the craziness with the Sandhill Star Saga, I managed to finish up my FIRST set of stars. Without further adieu, here they are!

Aren't they sweet? I am using 1930s from my stash and Kona White. You can find some really nice 1930s here and some wonderful Kona Cottons here.

One nice thing about paper piecing the HST's is that you get perfect points every time. Love it!!

This month's blocks consisted of 2 large stars and six smaller stars. They all went together quite easily.

Here they are all lined up. Love how they look! Yes, I have started on my second set of stars for my second version of this quilt. Wait until you see that one. I just love it. But I won't be able to show you that one just yet. I am still in the process of cutting apart the HST's. But take my word for it, they are great!

Don't forget to stop over at the Star Crazy BOM blog to see everyone else's versions of this quilt too. They are just beautiful!

Until Next Time...

The Star Crazy blocks look great in the fabrics you chose. I know Rae Ann will want to see these! I think she is doing hers in the same type of fabric. My friend Ann is in the midst of selling her house, so now she can't join us.

I am so glad that I read that twice. Your larger stars are not that much larger (like twice as big) so it looked like an error... Now I want to see how those go together.

I love the colors - so crisp and fresh looking. I don't know why I had thought you were done with your stars though. I am looking forward to seeing what our next set of instructions are so I can start pulling more scraps out to audition for it.

I've been working on mine today but decided I really dont like the foundation triangles. I found several of the triangles came unstitched close to the ends when I took the paper off - I'm using a 1.5 stitch length too and tearing from the centre so I'm sure what I've done ... do you use the paper triangles? I'm thinking I'll switch methods next month.

Came here via your comment over at Anya's 'Hills Creek Quilter'. Those stars are lovely. They look so fresh. I have collected 1930 era fabric for years and still waiting to use it. After seeing your stars I want to start cutting today. Thanks for the little nudge.

They are indeed beautiful! I completely understand the joy of perfect points that come from paper piecing! Can I recommend you try 'triangle paper'? You can read about it on my blog (kitbikquilts.blogspot.com) as I used it to make heaps of HSTs for Farley's wedding quilt. The thing is, you can get the paper in almost any size and then you can machine sew HSTs using the special paper as a guide and make literally hundreds of them in a day. You still then have to piece them together , but I find making the seams meet pretty easy if I have perfect HSTs from the start. Just a suggestion!
