Starting Something New

Hello Everyone,

Have you ever had the urge to start something new?? I bet you all have. That urge to start a new project seems to be never ending here. I had been looking through some of the Kaffe books that I own and while most of his quilts I love and want to make, I settled on one in particular.

Part of the reason is that I wanted something quick to do. So I went into my stash and found these lovely woven stripes that I had purchased in a quilt shop on clearance several years ago.

Aren't they just gorgeous colors? I love them all and it was finally time to use them.

So I took a look at the templates in the book and of course I had a ruler that matched just perfect. I just love it when that happens.

Started cutting into the striped fabric and voila...

This will be the result for many of the stripes there.

In my next post, I will show you the pattern and some of my results with the stripes. Just beautiful. At least I think so.

If you missed it check out my newest podcast here or in iTunes. It is getting really close to Christmas. I hope you are all enjoying this wonderful season.

Until Next Time...

You know I love anything Kaffe. I just got his newest book and fell asleep last night thinking of which project I enjoyed the most. I love how you are working with the stripes already.

"Lovely jumbly"!

Your post showing how you display your quilts has really inspired me to get cracking and pull out the quilts and get them on show AND given me some ideas for new quilts, But I need to tidy my sewing room first. I'm breaking for 10 mins to have a cuppa and regain my strength for the next declutter!

I have several of Kaffe books ... but all I ever do is look at them. I haven't made one from them yet! Maybe now I will!

What a gorgeous quilt that will be! I love those stripes. Kaffe really knows how to put the colors together. I'll be watching for photos of the finished quilt.

Do we like to start something new? Uh, yeah. I don't want to say how many new projects I have!

That's what I planned to do with some of the stripes I own...but I'm liking your stripes better! :) And now that I see you used that ruler, I will too. (I was just going to cut squares into fourths...) :)

those fabrics are gorgeous - sure wish they'd bring them back. definitely prefer them to all the florals. Hope you're saving all your scraps for something fabulous as well.

What great fabrics. The colors wow me. I love what you did with the striped block. Why piece and piece little sections when the fabric will do it all for you. I try to do that in my quilts too. Why applique a flower when fussy cutting does it all? I love doing this.

This is going to be one gorgeous luscious quilt. I've always loved that quilt pattern and I can't wait to see more.
