What Cha' Working On???

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday was a great day!  It was the first "official" day in my new studio.  To get students familiar with it I am hosting a few sew in days before normal classes get started.  So they are just bringing projects that they are working on and trying to finish them up.

It was a lot of fun to sit and sew with everyone and get something accomplished.  I took a few photos throughout the day showing what they were working on... great inspiration!

Donna brought along this great little pincushion, so I had to take a photo... isn't it cute??

Remember the sign that my son made me for Christmas?  I brought it with me and displayed it proudly in the window.

Donna and Leslie happily working away.

The hubs and I put together this Ikea cabinet as a cutting/storage table and it got used quite a bit today.

Nancy and Kris working on some fun projects.  They will both be in my Cactus Flower Table Runner Class in a few weeks.

Oh yeah, did I mention that I got a new/used Juki before Christmas???  A friend was selling it and I was interested because it has one speed... FAST!  I need to speed piece and it really fit the bill today.  Although I must admit it is going to take some getting used to...

Roberta is quite contented at her machine.

Nancy brought along this pickle dish quilt to work on, but I think she never got to it yesterday.

I love the arcs and spikes, but you probably knew that already... ;)

Leslie was working on this fantastic black, white, and pink sampler quito.  We were ALL in LOVE with this... remember Leslie, if it needs a home...

Roberta finished quilting and applied the binding to this quilt that will be going to the local hospital dialysis center.  Great job, it will be loved!

Nancy shared this pineapple quilt... very pretty!

She also had this pretty swirly table topper.

Kris was working on these teeny tiny flying geese all day long.  They were part of this...

...little table topper.

Nancy was working on this flannel quilt.  This will be a nice and snuggly quilt when it is complete.

Donna was working on my design... Fresh Palette.  I just love this quilt.  You can see it here.

Roberta had one last project, she was working on this scrappy chevron quilt.  A great way to use scraps.

So what are you working on today??

Until Next Time...

I also love that sampler quilt. Do you happen to know if she used a tutorial or pattern we can access online, or from a book, etc?

I'm sooooo jealous of everyone who lives close enough to hang out in your studio. :D Today. . . after taking Heather to the airport to fly back to school, I need to do this week's BOM work, finish assembling Pat's Houndstooth quilt top, and start attaching the binding on Marissa's quilt - my first scalloped binding, so I don't know how far I'll get today!

sounds like such fun Jackie and a good way for everyone to get comfortable with each other. The studio looks fabulous I wish you such good luck with new adventure.
Let us know how you like your Juki - that might be the sewing machine I would want some day. I have heard good things about it.

What a great idea to break in the new space. You are going to love the Juki. That's the same model I have. I bought it new around 2000 (I think) and it has been in for service only once and that wasca few months ago. It's the energizer bunny of sewing machines!

Sewing together my design for a quilted banner for my church. Want to take it into service tomorrow (1/3 of the whole), so I can see how the size/color will do.

I love seeing everyone's different projects. Love to see what they choose for patterns and how they design it using fabrics. I think show and tell is the best part of every gathering!

Love all the pics, thanks for sharing! Today I'm working on cleaning my messy house, so I can start a new quilt and be guilt-free tomorrow! :-)

Beautiful work ladies. I really need to try me a big project with paper piecing. It looks so beautiful. Today, after my sons bowling league and laundry and housecleaning I hope to get ack to finishing my Moose on the Porch UFO fat quarter stars. I've started the borders and hopefully today will get to the and sewing together business.

Fun fun fun! Nothing better than a day sewing with friends. It's wonderful that you're providing this space for all. How about one in Seattle?

oooh, I'm jealous about the space and working with friends. I've been part of the Juki club for two years and I love it. not only is it fast, but that automatic thread cutter is just the ticket, especially if you are paper piecing.

Having "sew" days is a great way to introduce quilters to you workshop venue. Hope you get a lot of sign-ups for your classes.
