Rock, Paper, Scissors.....

Hello Everyone,

My choice is paper, paper piecing that is!! As I promised, some more Judy Niemeyer inspiration from the class I took at Quilting by the Yard. Although there are only several pictures of my project from her class on this post, make sure at the end of this post you click on the link for a great slideshow for tons of inspiration direct from her class.

Since the class, I have been busy piecing my project. I chose to do her pattern "A Touch of Spring". Here are some of my arcs in progress.

Some completed arcs. Perfect spikes, that is what I like about paper piecing.

A completed block, I just love it!!

A completed border section. It is going to be wavy all around the quilt!!

My friends and I with Judy. From left to right: Caroline, Judy, Me, Deb, and Pam. We all had a great two days and learned tons.

So now if you would like to see more wonderful pictures go here for the musical slideshow (turn your volume on). If you are unable to view this one, I have an alternate slideshow (no music, just pictures) so go here to see that one. I hope you enjoy!

Also, I just uploaded more customer photos to my gallery. The most recent uploads on in the sidebar entitled Recent Additions. Check them out here. My April newsletter is also online now here. Now I must get back to my paper piecing, my hexies, my Spring to Finish project.... ooooo so many projects, so little time.

Until Next Time....

Look What is on My Design Wall

Hello Everyone,

You know those projects that you had started and then put away, for whatever reason, and you just hadn't gotten back to them. Well this post is about one of those such projects. Once I got it out and started working on it, it left me scratching my head wondering why I had put it away in the first place.

I have been having so much fun with it and it started like this.....

A little more paper piecing, I love it!

Some finished arcs.

Some finished spikes.

More arcs.

Then the building process begins on the design wall!! Woo hoo, I just love it!!

A little more.

Even more.

All up on the wall!! Now I just have to piece all the units together.

For those of you who are wondering the information on this quilt. It is called the Fourth of July and is a pattern by Judy Niemeyer, one of my favorites. I just took another class from her about 2 weeks ago and am in the process of piecing one of her newest patterns. Loving that one too.

Seriously, if you ever have the opportunity to take a class from her do it!! I have several times and have learned something new each time! On my next post, I will have pictures and a slideshow from the class 2 weeks ago. So stay tuned for that post, it will be picture heavy!!

Also, on the home front, my newest newsletter is out. You can check it out here. I have also added a button on my sidebar where you can just click and sign up for the newsletter that way. I would love to have you on board.

While you are on my website check out the newest customer quilts on my gallery. The most recent additions are on the sidebar labeled Recent Additions.

Until Next Time....

Blogger Quilt Festival 2009

Hello Everyone,

Amy is hosting an online Quilt Festival and I am entering the following quilt.

I realize that most of you have seen this one very recently, but it is truly one of my favorites for many reasons. Some of the reasons include that it is bright and cheerful, made from scraps, and it is paper pieced.

I also really liked doing the quilting on this one. The teapot quilting and the steam quilting, just finished it off nicely.

I was able to use some really cool, bright buttons for embellishment. Gotta have some embellishment!!

But most importantly, it was made for Melanie my Time for Tea Swap partner. She has given it a wonderful new home and is enjoying it. That makes me very happy.

So you see why I love it and it is my entry. I hope you all enjoy it too for some of the same reasons and possibly some others too!

Until next time.....

Look, in My Backyard...

Hello Everyone,

I saw a beautiful Bobcat! I came downstairs for some tea on quilting break and saw this wonderful Bobcat. Be sure to click on the pictures for a closer look!

The pictures aren't that great as they are through my window.

But isn't it beautiful? This is not the first time we have had Bobcats in our yard, but the first time I was able to snap some pictures.

Just beautiful! It has that tiny little cropped tail.

Just sitting, waiting....

Looking pretty...

Then the UPS man pulled into our drive and she ran off. That was a real bummer, I was enjoying my break admiring her. I hope you enjoyed too!

Organization and Progress

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to the weekend! It has been a busy week for me. I have been working on several projects at one time. Also working on customer quilts! You can see the newest ones here, they are from a husband and wife quilting "team". See them in my gallery under the Recent Addition right sidebar.

Now onto my work. Well I have to say that I was channeling both Wanda and Karen. They both have wonderful organizational skills.

So here is my find... a $5.00 find at Wal-Mart in the fishing department. Yes, it is a tackle box.

But it is perfect for those little hexagons. You can close it and it has a space for everything and a handle for easy carrying. Pretty cool!

So it seems that the little hexies have become my night time project. I have been doing them while watching T.V. with hubby. Good busy work and addicting too! So I was able to finish 2 more flowers for my grandmother's flower garden quilt. Here is a peek....

I just love them! During the day, I have been working on a Judy Niemeyer paper piecing project that I started about 2 years ago and really want to finish. More on this in my next post.

Then a friend of mine, Leslie (no blog), was reading my last post and saw my hexies. She called me and said she wanted to come by to show me something. Later on she came by with this beauty.

Isn't it just gorgeous!! She said she has had this top for a while, not sure of the maker, but would love to have it hand quilted. I'll tell you, the pictures don't do this justice, it is a real beauty, just breathtaking and vintage to boot!!

So, of course, we did a photo shoot so that we could so this loveliness to all my bloggy friends. Don't you just love the close up?

Here is the back side. All hand sewn. Great workmanship. Thank you so much for sharing this treasure with me, Leslie! Don't forget to click on all the pictures for a closer look.

One other special item, if you would like to see some really good quilting inspiration, go here. I went, with my friend Pam, to the Empire Quilter's Guild show 2 weekends ago and I put a little slideshow together. I'll tell you they have some talented quilters there. There is also a few hexagon quilts you won't want to miss in this slideshow. We also had a chance to go into the fashion district, there are a few pictures of that too. A great trim place! So click on the link, turn on your volume and enjoy!!

Until Next Time,
