Points and Flowers

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday was the first session of the newest Technique of the Month... the Mariner's Compass.

I taught the first session at The Quilt Basket in Wappinger's Falls, NY and would like to share some of the happenings.

I would also like to say that being the first session of a new pattern there was some learning to be had, by myself, as an instructor too.  This was partly due to the fact that the pattern was just release a couple of weeks ago and when I made the quilt, I made it from absolutely no written instructions.  That said the class went pretty well... let me show you.

Here is Cathy, the owner of The Quilt Basket, hanging my sample.

One of my students color swatches, neatly in place. A cool blue version.

Another student's version, lots of teal.

The classroom, busy at work.

Cutting, cutting.

Compass points completed! These are two different students quilts.

More compass points.

A right and a left compass point!

A compass flower in purples.

A compass flower in rusts.

Next session... Feathered Star.

If you are interested in taking this class with me there are still openings with me in my new studio in Winsted, CT.  Click here to see all the details and to register online.  Hurry though the first session starts February 9.

Until Next Time...

Your quilt is beautiful! I'd love to make a Mariner's Compass one day. In the meantime, I'll enjoy the pictures and postings of your class progress!
