Runners of Many Colors

Hello Everyone,

On Friday, I had the pleasure of teaching a wonderful group of ladies from the Evening Star Quilters from Mineola, NY.  I taught the Seasonal Table Runner Class and these ladies did some phenomenal work.  They all had very different color ways and 4 of the ladies teamed up in pairs and worked on their project together.  I wanted to show you some of their work.

Isn't this version lovely?  A perfectly pleasing use of Fairy Frosts.  Totally random use, but light backgrounds and dark spikes and geese.

Gorgeous soft peaches and robin egg blues.

Asian fabrics.

Beautiful earthy batiks.

Plums and greens.

Gorgeous coffee colors.

More earthy batiks.

Asian fabrics with the corresponding geese.

I have TONS more photos from all these students and others, but you will need to click here to take a peek.

If you are interested in the pattern, you can find it by clicking here to shop.

Enjoy all the photos!!  It truly was a wonderful class.  I enjoyed all the ladies!

Class Time...

Hello Everyone,

It was a great day yesterday!!  I am teaching at the New England Quilt Festival (NEQF) and had two wonderful sessions.  In the AM, I had a lecture/trunk show.  The ladies were fabulous and had TONS of great questions.

In the PM, I taught the Seasonal Table Runner Class.  This group of ladies were just as wonderful.  Here is a little peek into the classroom.

A finished Unit... hmmmm... matches the clothes!

A rainbow of spikes.

A jewel tone line up for the geese.

Look there they are in progress.

Lovely Victoria was in both the lecture and class.  She did great!!

Janet finished her circling geese unit too!!  She was also a fabulous helper in my lecture.  Thank you for all you did.

A great neutral palette.

You can see more photos online here.

Tomorrow's class... Desert Sky.  Stay tuned for more!

The 2nd Day of Inspiration

Hello Everyone,

The second day of our retreat was quite productive for many of us...

Justine finished her Seasonal Table Runner.  You can find the pattern here.

This was sort of a cheat... I returned this quilt to Sharon.  I quilted it for her.  So it is done!  She just needs to bind it...

Darlene's Arrowhead quilt.

Are we channeling our quilt?  Matching clothes to quilts is definitely a skill.

A crayon quilt demo.

Don't you just love the smell of a new box of crayons?

Very cool to shade with melted crayons.

Cass finished a Lone Star.

Mama and Papa bunny.

The final layout for my Desert Sky.  You can find the pattern here.

Charlotte is almost done, just some borders to add.

Stay tuned for Day 3.

Variations

Hello Everyone,

This weekend was filled with TONS of paper piecing!  Some of my own and much of my students.  On Saturday, I taught a class for the guild that I am a member.  The class that I taught was the Seasonal Table Runner from Judy Niemeyer.  You can find it here in my shop.

One of the things that always amazes me is the variations in color and the overall look of a piece from each of my students.  I wanted to share with you some that I took photos of during the class.

There were many made from batiks.  This one a more pastel variation and she varied the spikes as well.

Although this was batik, she chose to keep the spikes the same as well as the background.

The same theme here with the same spikes and background, but different coloring.

This is a fabulous Christmas version.  She will definitely have a "Seasonal" Table Runner.

Beautiful fall like batiks with varied spikes.

Here she chose the same background for both the geese and the spikes, but the geese are from a different batik than the spikes.

Another fall look with varied spikes and geese, but with a twist a darker background along the edge of the geese.

This version was done totally from her scrap bin!  The combos are great too!

The same concept here, but a totally different look with some sunny batik and also regular quilting cottons.

Yet another with the same concept, but with traditional quilting cottons.  Funny they are the same concept for the layout, but all look totally different.

This one will be lovely when combined with the geese.  It is going to be a red, white, and blue version.  The geese will be red.  You can see more photos from this class here in Flickr.

I was so inspired from my class I came home and continued to work on my geese for my Glacier Star, blogged here

I was able to get a little farther than this photo shows and can't wait to finish them up!!  Once they are done, I will be joining them to the Glacier Star to make them queen size.

A fabulous day all around!  Don't you just love seeing all the variations?  I know I do!

Until Next Time...

Spikes for My Table

Hello Everyone,

I hope that you are not getting tired of seeing my most recent Judy Niemeyer projects. But this is the last one for a while. The last time I shared this one with you, I had just finished it at my quilting retreat. You can see the post by clicking here.

But I still needed to remove all the paper. That is now complete. Now to quilt it and get it on my table. But for the time being, I took it outside on a hot day photo shoot!

Love all those wonderful spikes. I made it totally from batiks that will go just perfectly in my kitchen.

Had to do the wall and flower shot.

Here is the whole thing. This is Judy Niemeyer's Seasonal Table Runner and the pattern can be found in my shop by clicking here. More patterns are due in this week!

I hope you have enjoyed my little mini paper piecing series!

Did Someone Say Paper Piecing?

Hello Everyone,

Back in November, I had the opportunity to take another class with Judy Niemeyer, whose work I really admire. You can read about it here and here.

I took two classes and one of them was the Seasonal Table Runner. I really need to put something new on my kitchen table and thought this would be perfect. But I hadn't been able to get back to it until last weekend at Victoria's. Here is a chronicle of what is done...

The above photo is the three different components in the quilt. All the batiks were chosen from batiks in my shop. You can find them here. Even though they look quite Christmasy, these are my kitchen colors.

Thought you might like to see the back too. Judy's patterns ALL come with ALL the papers you will need to make the quilt. No photo copying needed!!

Here is what all three components look like when placed together.

Then the entire piece!! I love it, but I have to fix one thing before joining the components, bet you can't find it!!

So if you would like to give this one a try, you can purchase her patterns by clicking here. I know you will love them.

Also, if you have a minute, I am a guest blogger over at Victoria's today!! Go check it out and leave me a comment... I love them!!

Today is the LAST day to enter the GIVEAWAY for Pat's Sloan's beautiful new book. Just click here for the details.

***JAPAN - Please consider helping those in need. Stephanie has put a call out, I donated and would love it if you can too. Just go to Stephanie's blog and get all the details.***
