If you have been following my making of my daughter's college quilt, here is an update...
I have the R and the P sewn together. I still need to make the I. If you remember I couldn't fit it on my design wall.
I took the part that I have sewn together outside for a photo shoot and was a little disappointed. Can you see that some of my whites were not truly white. Funny how the natural light of the outdoors brought that out. Looking at for days on my design wall, I could not tell the difference from one to the other. See my blog post here and here and see if you can tell the difference.
But if you look at the photo above you surely can tell. That bothers me somewhat, but not enough to rip them out and replace them. I hope that it doesn't bother my daughter any at all.
I am under a time crunch with this and I really need to kick in and make that I this weekend.
Here is the R and the P together though, not too bad.
I do have to add a strip of black and white above the R. Then I think that I will add a small red strip around as an inner border, then more black and white squares around as the outer border.
This is going to be a large quilt, bigger than she will need for her bed, but that will give her more to cuddle with at night.

The not quite whites give the quilt some depth - I think they make it even better! It's such an awesome quilt. I hope your daughter loves it.
I think the "un-whites" really add something to the overall look of the quilt. Extra big means extra snuggles. Lucky daughter.
I think it looks great - there is so much print going on in those whites that I doubt it will be a problem.

I'm with the others; the light creams add depth and interest. It's coming along great!!
I am so surprised how different the fabrics look indoors vs outside. Good lesson for when it must be "just right". I agree the off white pieces fit well in the design so I think you dodged a bullet this time. Well done even if by accident.
If the creams were clumped together, then it would be a problem, but having them all dispersed makes it look perfectly fine. I like what the cream adds to your quilt.

That is going to be so pretty...the offwhites give it some texture! It is funny how you couldn't tell on the wall, though! Good luck getting it finished!

What off-white? It looks great and for college the bigger the better with those twin extra lomg beds! She will love it forever. My girls still use their college quilts.
Jackie, you're being much too critical and controlling. The quilt looks super, and I would not have noticed the very slight variation in whites if you hadn't pointed it out. Adrianne will NEVER, NEVER notice, I guarantee. Also, once the top is quilted, it will be even less noticeable.
This just adds to the beauty of the quilt. You've stayed within the realm of whites. I love this!
Graphically great! What does the RPI mean? I'm sure you've said, but I must have missed it!
I like the little bits of off-white squares. They give a bit of added texture to the background. This is going to be the favorite quilt of the college dorms.
