Hole In The Wall Gang Camp Delivery!

Hello Everyone,

This post is long over due. On May 21st, I had the honor of helping our guild and another guild make a very special delivery to the Hole In The wall Gang Camp!! This is what we delivered...

Thank you to all of my readers that helped us to achieve our goal! So many of you from close by and far, far away sent tons of pillowcases. You will all be happy to know that EVERY child will go home with a pillowcase and a quilt!

Here we are all ready to go on a wonderfully sunny day. It was truly a magical day.

The cars were packed to the roof! We had two fearless leaders with two packed cars!

Unbelievable, isn't it?

Here they are all stacked and ready to be unpacked.

Now just a little detail. While there, we were given a tour. This was enlightening. Every child goes to camp for free for one week. They are a self sustaining camp run only on charitable contributions. This camp is fully staffed with all the physicians, nurses, staff, and volunteers needed for each child's specific needs. The amount of forethought that has gone into the building and maintenance of this camp is astounding.

The children all come with a variety of medical problems ranging from Hemophilia, Sickle Cell Anemia, Cancer, and a multitude of other ailments. They come from all over the world. However, there are Hole In The Wall Gang Camps located literally throughout the globe. To find out more about this amazing facility, that was started right here in Ashford, CT by Paul Newman, and the other facilities throughout the world, please click HERE for their website.

To see more beautiful pictures and a more in depth look of the camp from our visit, click HERE to view my slideshow. Turn on your volume, there is music.

And once again, a HUGE heartfelt thanks to all!!! We continue to collect pillowcases throughout the year to be delivered in the spring of 2011, e-mail for information.

Until Next Time...

Hole In The Wall Gang Call Out!!

Hello Everyone,

I know that some of you remember my call out last year for the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. Well, it is that time again. I have had some e-mails and inquiries about when I would be calling out for pillowcases again. The time has begun!!

Our guild had it's first meeting of the year 2 weeks ago and has set a goal this year for 2,000 pillowcases! Yes, that is a lot, but last year we had 1,600 made and delivered. Here are some pictures from that special day...

The car packed with boxes ready to travel.

Boxes arrived safe and sound!

More arrived, plus some help.

The ladies of our guild and staff from the camp happy for the pillowcases and quilts received for the kids.

So this year has already begun and we have a nice start on the pillowcases. We currently have over 200. Here are a few photos that I took with my iPhone at the guild meeting.

A lot of the fabric had been donated by the ladies and some fabric companies are also sending us fabric. Many are making the cases and just sending them to us. I can't begin to tell you how much these pillowcases are appreciated by the children. This is one thing they get to take home with them at the end of camp.

You can read more about the camp by clicking HERE. If you would like to make some pillowcases, you can find a quick and easy pattern PDF listed on my sidebar under "Freebie Patterns". Then send me an e-mail cantonvillagequiltworks@comcast.net or comment on this post and I will send you my address to send the pillowcases.

We will accept your pillowcase donations through April, 2010. It truly is a wonderful cause putting a smile on these children's faces. Thank you in advance for your generosity and kindness.

In other news, check out my Etsy Treasury here. See lots of summertime inspiration. But be quick it expires on Tuesday.

Until Next Time...

Design Wall Love

Hello Everyone,

I have to say I have been busy the last week and lacking on my blog reading. So today I vow to get caught up.

But first an update, for those of you who remember or participated, pillowcases were delivered to the Hole in The Wall Gang Camp. A total of 1,600 pillowcases. Thank you all for your generous donations. Our goal next year is 2,000!! So I will be putting a call out for some more help. You can read an article about it here. All I can say is that they were absolutely thrilled!!

Also, my website has had a slight MAKEOVER!! So go check it out. I think it is a little simpler now. Let me know what you think. While you are there be sure to look at the customer quilts under Recent Additions. They are just beautiful!

Now for some pictures! I know a lot of you have been watching my progress on yet another Judy Niemeyer quilt. Well I am happy to say that I am almost done!!

Loving the stars.....

Mmmmm... raspberry and chocolate batiks a yummy combo!

Top right corner....

Top left corner....

The entire (well almost) quilt on my design wall. Unfortunately, my wall is not long enough. There is an outlet that you just can't cover up. So the bottom border sits on my table.

As you can see in the above picture, I made a design decision to make have the border chocolate and half raspberry. I kind of like the look and am slowly but surely piecing all the units together.

I have really been enjoying paper piecing of late. But after this one, I must get started on my Spooktacular Halloween Swap that Jane is hosting. I have the fabric ready to go!

My next post will be on Tuesday, so keep an eye out! I have something special planned for my readers!

Until Next Time.....
