Open Studio

Hello Everyone,

This past weekend was spent in my new studio/classroom space meeting tons of wonderful new people!  It was an open studio weekend and lots of people came through to see all the artisans at Whiting Mills.

If you were unable to make it there, I wanted to share with you some of the fabulous people who work there in there studios.  Many offer classes and also sell their works.

So, come on in and take a peek...

This is a view into my new studio where I will be teaching Judy Niemeyer Paper Piecing technique classes.  All the quilts on the walls are the classes.

All the quilts on the tables are my designs that have been published in magazines over the past three years.

Another view... you will be able to register for classes by clicking here and see my schedule by clicking here.

These two lovely ladies are part of the project to get this beautiful sign made and installed for Winsted.

There is a Model Railroad shop in the mill.

A yoga studio... run by Jan.  She had just left as she had forgotten something at home.  She is delightful though!

This is Joe from Joe's Sports cards.

If you are looking for a gift for that sports fanatic in your family this is the place!!

This is the multi talented Mary of The Quilted Ewe.  She sells fabric and wool.

She will also be teaching quilting classes and wool felting classes.  Mary is definitely multi-talented and a delight.  Don't you just love all these jars of colorful wool?  LOVE!

There is a fabulous showroom in the mill.  You can find various items there from the artisans in the mill  which are for purchase.

There is this great freight elevator that we use to go from floor to floor.  For the open house they had it all decked out in lights!!  Don't worry, there are stairs too.

Don, is a multi-talented artist, and a retired school teacher. You can see some of his work in front of him.  Many are for sale.

Here Renee is making jewelry.  Beading is her thing, but guess what she also quilts!

Theresa has a terrific business... she reupholsters furniture and makes custom draperies, valances, etc.  Very talented!

Cheryl does these amazing folk art paintings... of which I purchased one that looks just like my house with quilts on the fence in front!!  She also has her prints licensed to a puzzle company.  Yes, you can purchase her puzzles too!

This is Barbara and she does a lot of recycling.  She is standing next to these great bottle cap magnets that are just darling!  But she has much, much more.

Please meet Gay... she is my next door neighbor at the mill!  She is a multi-talented lady and currently is working with paintings in her studio.

This is Phillip.  He is a weaver and makes fine woven textiles like this scarf you see in front of him.

I hope you liked this virtual open studio.

If you would like to learn more about these artists and many more at Whiting Mills, please click here to see all the artisans and business located in the Mill.

I am proud to be part of this community!

Until Next Time...

That looks really fabulous. I see so many things I would be interested in. And having a model train shop there would even interest hubby.

What a wonderful place! We have a similar old mill in our community that they have been trying to make a shopping/artsy center, but so far it has not worked. I would love to have something like this here! Congratulations on your new studio and good luck in making it grow and flourish!

Wow, what a great group of stores to be surrounded by, especially a quilt shop where people can buy things if they forgot something for your classes.
And you are traveling quite a bit this next year! Busy schedule!
