I Am An Addict

Hello Everyone,

Many of you know that I have a serious addiction. An addiction to paper piecing, but mostly to paper piecing Judy Niemeyer patterns. On Thursday and Friday, I had the opportunity to take a two day class with Judy here in CT. So, of course, I could not pass up the chance to see her again and work on her patterns.

For those of you who are fans on Facebook, you already had a sneak peek at my creation. All I can say is I am in love!

This photo shows the center of the quilt. If you recognize these fabrics, these are the ones that I shared back on this post when I was just choosing the just the right combo. All the links are there, on the post, for each individual fabric too

These are the inner border pieces in progress.

This is one of the center pieces prior to trimming. They always look fabulous once they are trimmed.

Here Judy is demoing how to piece the curve with my arc and quarter circle.

Aren't they just perfectly pieced? That is the beauty of paper piecing, very little error.

Here is the first progress photo of the layout. Loving it here.

Now some arcs and quarter circles are complete and added to the layout.

Here it is on my design wall with the outer arcs added. What you see here took me just two days to complete. I am almost done too. I just have to paper piece the outside border and then add the inner setting pieces.

If you ever get the opportunity to take a class with Judy, it is well worth the time and effort. She is a wealth of knowledge. After class we were able to spend the evening chatting over dinner. That was tons of fun! Although we drove through a horrendous thunderstorm to get where we were going.

You can find all the fabrics and the patterns for this quilt in my shop, just click here to get started.

Love your colors - am working on Judy's Glacier Star - almost done. I believe I too have become addicted to her patterns. Signed up for a retreat out in Montana for July 2012 - but it will be with one of her certified instructors

Now that is just incredible. I marvel at that one!! Looks very intimidating to me!! The colors that you chose absolutely WIN in this quilt. Two days? That's crazy. That's about how long it takes me to sew a border on. Ha!

Wow - I *love* your fabrics!!! I'm working on Glacier Star right now, but I went with a kit. I've got Celtic Wave waiting in the background, and you've inspired me to get courageous and choose fabulous fabrics for it!

A lot of people don't care for paper piecing, but I don't mind it. Especially when the results are so fantastic! Yours is looking good!
