Hello Everyone,
Yay, I am now home!! I got home yesterday and have tons to do to get ready for all the fabric and patterns that are coming into the shop!! I am officially pooped, but it is a good pooped, if you know what I mean.
Anyway, onto Quilt Market... I really wanted to share two more schoolhouses with you. I had been looking forward to seeing Bill Kerr and Weeks Ringle's Schoolhouse. If you are unfamiliar with them, they are a husband and wife team and owners of Fun Quilts. They have some fabulous books on the market and are great learning and teaching tools. They use mainly solids and tone on tone fabrics.
A new book is coming out and it is a must have!! It will be in my shop soon. But first I wanted to show you some photos of their quilts from the book.
Don't you just love the dots!
This is a fabulous quilt and they give you several color options in case you want to learn more on color.
This is a great quilt! Can you just see a large Kaffe floral in those big circles?
Another great quilt. All the blocks are improved and then squared up and sashed.
This one was just gorgeous! The use of prints with solids was terrific.
Of course, a pieced backing!
1930s reproductions were used here and they inserted just a dash of a red solid. It is just enough to add that zing the quilt needed.
This quilt is Bill's manly quilt.
He used Cherrywood solids for this quilt. Simple and beautiful for the beginner. This was hand quilted too.
This quilt was amazing. It was called transparency. It used only 4 fabrics with a great effect.
Birds on a wire can give a window effect in a room with no windows.
The book is wonderful!! And will be available here very soon... 20% off!
Next we went to Jean and Valori Wells schoolhouse. It was in keeping with the solids theme. Jean has a book out all about color and design featuring solids.
Simple and beautiful design.
Improvisational piecing on this quilt. I love the quilting they did.
Runners in different color ways.
Close up with of the next quilt. Aren't the colors grand?
The entire quilt... isn't it gorgeous. The color sings doesn't it?
You can find solids here now that you are in the mood...
Onto the silk solids winner...
Mr. Random Number Generator and I picked number 71...
Emillie of Patrick and Emillie... Congrats!!
Stay tuned for the next market report.
Until Next Time..
