Do You Like?

Hello Everyone,

Since all month I am celebrating my 3 year Anniversary as an online shop, I wanted to shared with you some new items just added to the shop and our special weekend #3 sale.

This is the Amazon Star.  This design is a Judy Niemeyer design and is available in our shop as an individual pattern, but it is now available as a kit too!! And it is in the same colors as pictured above.

Here is that same quilt hanging in the Timeless Treasures booth at quilt market.  My friend and fellow Certified Instructor, Ginny pieced and quilted this one to hang in the booth.

I actually am going to make this one for myself.  The colors will go well in our bedroom.

If you want your own though, you can pick up the pattern or kit by clicking here and here.

New patterns into the shop from Pam Dindorff of Aardvark Quilts.  These patterns are wonderful and work well with your Kaffe Fassett and Australian Aboriginal fabrics.

You can find these patterns here.

And, as promised, NEW Kaffe Fassett ribbons.  I can truly say, I am in LOVE!!  I am actually going to edge the cuffs of my lightweight wool coat with this ribbon.  How fun to put on a quilt, pillow, or bag.  And they are even more gorgeous in person.

These can be found by clicking here.

Now for the sale items this week...

All Australian Aboriginal fabric from M&S Textiles are marked down to $8.35 per yard through midnight November 18 EST.  Click here to see them all.

All Black and White fabrics are marked down to $7.75 per yard through midnight November 18 EST.  Click here to see them all.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Until Next Time...

A Difficult Decision

Hello Everyone,

For some time now I have been contemplating a change in my business.  The time has now come.  For 12 years I have been quilting customer quilts on my long arm, it is now time for me to retire this part of my business.  Let me say that I have enjoyed everyone of my customers throughout the years and have met soooo many good friends and have learned a lot from each and every one.

This has been a difficult decision for me to make and I thank all of you for entrusting me with your beautiful creations.

Let me assure you though, NOTHING ELSE in my business will change.  I will elaborate...

As many of you know, about 3 years ago, I began my online fabric shop and it has grown and I am loving every minute.  This is definitely a different facet of my business and I intend on devoting more time here to bring you the best fabrics, notions, patterns, and kits at the best prices online.

As you may or may not know, I have also become a Nationally Certified Judy Niemeyer Teacher.  This is part of my business that I want to grow!  I have always loved teaching and have already been hitting the road at guilds and quilt shops.

I would love to come to yours, if you will have me.  Just send me an e-mail.  In the meantime, you can find my schedule here and my current list of workshops here.

In my plans, you will also find me doing lots more designing.  As you know I have been designing for Quilt Magazine and have also begun for others.  This is another part of my business that I would like to grow.  Oh, and I will continue to podcast, do free tutorials, and just plain blog about my quilty happenings.

So rest assured Canton Village Quilt Works is still alive and kicking, it is just growing in a different direction.

In short,

1.  I will finish quilting all the quilts I currently have in my possession.
2.  As of today, I will no longer accept quilts to be quilted.
3.  My online shop will continue to grow and provide you with top quality fabrics.  If you haven't yet shopped in my shop, give it a look by clicking here, you won't be disappointed!
4.  I will be teaching, lecturing, and doing trunk shows on a regular basis.  If you would like to have me come to your shop or guild, send me an e-mail.
5.  Designing quilts will be on the upswing!

That is it in a nutshell.  I am glad that you will all be with me on this journey, you will have first row seats right here on my blog.

Thank you all!!

Until Next Time...

Studio Tour

Hello Everyone,

It has been a while since I have taken you all on a tour of my studio. It has gone major transitions since I opened my online shop. I had to add tons of shelving to hold all that gorgeous fabric.

So come on along and take a peek...

This is what you see when you enter the doorway. Straight ahead is my sewing machine station and to the left of it is my AccuQuilt Studio Cutter. Stephanie... do you see the quilt you made for me? It makes me smile every day!

Directly to your right is shelving that houses some batiks. Directly to the left there are batiks lined up on the floor. (Hmmm... do I need more shelves??)

Here is a better photo of the batiks.

Step into the room a bit and turn to the left and you see my long arm. My favorite wall is just behind the long arm, it holds all the Kona Cotton Solids and my thread used on all customer quilts. I like to call it the Great Wall of Color.

Step in just a little further and turn and look on the other side of my long arm and you will see the wall of Kaffe Fassett, 1930s, batiks, and clearance. By far, this wall has mostly Kaffe Fassett Fabrics.

What is that you say, you can't quite see the wall? Here is a better peek.

A better look at all those glorious threads.

This is the where all the work gets done. Answering e-mails, printing orders, and cutting all the orders. The nerve center of my business.

The only thing that I can't show you is my design wall. Something is on it which you will find out about soon, I promise.

I love my space and spend quite a good portion of my day there. The commute is short and the day is always wonderful. I love my job!

My husband heard this quote from someone and I so believe it fits me...

"If you love what you do, you will never work another day in your life!"

Enough said!

Hope you enjoyed the tour!

Until Next Time...

A Feast For Your Eyes On Thanksgiving... Low Cal!

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to share with you some wonderful creations from some friends of mine around the web.

First up is an Etsy find from The Ponderosa Quilter. She created this beautiful Monkey Wrench Garden Quilt and asked me to quilt it for her.

Isn't the quilt gorgeous? And it is for sale too, just click here to go to her site.

Here is a close up of the vine quilting that I did on the quilt.

Another talented lady is from The Quilted House on Etsy. She made the above ornaments, which are for sale in her shop, with die cut Kaffe circles she purchased from me. I love them and they are a terrific price. She has some other lovely things for sale in her shop that would make wonderful Christmas gifts too. So go check them out by clicking here. She is also running a sale through the end of November, so hurry.

Last up is Jewel of Jewel's Arm Candy Blog. She purchased these bright batik tumbler die cuts from me and is creating a beautiful quilt.

She also purchased the same amount of die cut tumblers, but in muslin. Then she took the scrap selvages that she purchased in a Kaffe scrap bag (also from me) and sewed them to the muslin foundation. Now isn't this just one beautiful quilt?

So go check out these talented ladies! Lots of ideas floating around there on the world wide web. You never know what you will find. Check out my Etsy site and Online Fabric store for more die cuts and pre-cuts to make your own creations as well.

I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving!! And I hope that you have lots of terrific family time and low cal, low fat desserts.

Until Next Time...
