Almost There!!

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday's blog post I showed you the progress on my Sunflower Illusions, mostly due to the fact that Blizzard Nemo took hold in New England.   As a result, I have been indoors since Thursday sewing.  Mind you I am not complaining about the sewing, just the snow.

Yesterday, I had the layout up on the design wall and it was merely a matter of me joining the units together and then placing the borders on all four sides.

But first I would like to show you what we woke up to that allowed me to make more progress on this quilt top.

The doors were blocked by TONS of snow.

The cars in the driveway were buried.

The deck totally covered in snow, it is almost the height of the railings!  We had about 3 feet of snow!

Ground view of the car buried.

But you know what all this snow meant, right?  I couldn't go out again today!  That, in turn, meant more sewing.  Yay!!

I was able to join all the units together.  That meant sewing 30 curves.  I started the curves at 8 am and was done by around 1:30.  I did take a break for lunch.  Then I had to join the blocks and the rows together.   I did...

and I love the look!  But I still have to attach 4 borders.  I managed to only get the side border on and will need to get the top and bottom on tomorrow night.

Here is what I have now.

I am really hoping to get the borders on the top and bottom, the rest of the papers peeled off and the backing made all by Monday.  Then onto the long arm.

Do you think that I can do it??

Oh yeah, I am heading to Vermont today to teach a class... so maybe I won't get it all done.... hmmm....

Until Next Time...

The only snow I like it when someone else has it. Looks like you have enough to share!!! Oh snow covered mountains are my very favorite kind of snow.

I REALLY don't miss all that snow. I sure hope you have someone to do the shoveling for you.. YUCK. That and the cold are the worst. It really is quite pretty, I'll admit that much. Other than that.. no thanks, I'll stay here in TX nice and warm and snug.

I was thinking of you and all the snow you were getting - I wondered what you would get and then on the news they said CT had the most and some places 30 to 40 inches - you got a lot!! a lot of digging out to do
Such a pretty quilt!

That is turning out beautifully! You east coasters being willing to drive at all with snow like that around scared me though ;) My husband's from Vermont and he seems to think this is perfectly sane driving weather..

Can you get out of your driveway to teach your class? Look at all of that snow! Our son in Brooklyn said it hasn't been that bad in his area. Nice to know some sections were spared.

Wow did you get a dump! So great to have the best excuse to stay home and sew for yourself. Its like found money, just in time and maybe more precious. Here in CO we get a dump like that and the sun comes out and its all melted in 2-3 days. Hardly need to shovel unless its over a foot. Where you are it will be around alot longer! :( Oh well all the grass will be happy, no drought. Enjoy your home time and stay in where its safe. Cheers!
