Designing A Quilt On A Mac - Lesson 1

Hello Everyone,

If you remember back on this blog post (click here) I spoke about designing quilts using several different mediums.  One of which I talked about was designing on a Mac.

There was a fantastic response to that, and many of you asked me to do a tutorial on it.  What I decided to do was a series of lessons that I will be posting here and on YouTube.  We will create a quilt together!

Your feedback will be important, as I hope to tailor some of the lessons to what you want.  This is the first lesson in the series.  Please take the time to view it (if you are interested) and then please either leave a comment with feedback or send me an e-mail.

I will have them listed on my blog on the left sidebar under tutorials for future reference and you can also access them on my newly created YouTube channel by clicking here.

I am having fun making them and hope that they are helpful to you and bring out your inner designer!

Enjoy!

Until Next Time...

Been deciding on getting a MAC or not to replace our two dying computers, if I do, these will come in handy for sure! Thanks.

Wowzer! Thank you sooo much for the excellent tutorials using a Mac. You made everything so easy and clear. The time you took to develop this is very much appreciated!

I've been drafting quilt designs on the Mac since 1985 ... and never once did it occur to me to use a 'numbers' type software for the purpose! I have used any number of (much too fancy) drawing programs (MacDraw, Canvas, Claris Draw, Easy Draw) for my designing.

I have watched videos 1 and 2 and I am impressed with how well you are addressing the absolute beginner! :) I am looking forward to the next lesson(s).

Oh, Jackie, this is fabulous!!!! I hate having to use my old PC laptop to use EQ so am definitely thrilled that you've found a way to design on a Mac using a Mac application!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I can't what for the next lesson!!

Thank you for doing this! I am a relatively new MAC owner, almost 1 yr. It will be nice to be able to design a quilt using my MAC. I will definitely add you to my YouTube subscription.

Thanks so much for doing this tutorial, Jackie! I'm a Mac user and a new quilter, frustrated at the lack of Mac-friendliness in the quilting software world.

Unfortunately I couldn't view the video because of my slow Internet connection. Yep, I'm out in the boonies and videos are only accessible on "good" days. I guess I'll have to try to watch it another day when the service is speedier.

It would be great if you could have a blog post version of the tutorial for those of us who are hindered by our "remoteness".

Hugs,
Pam

This was wonderful! Thank you. I used Excel for years (even took semester-long classes at the community college) and I have no idea if it does this or not. Now I have an iMac (love it!) and didn't know I'd be able to design on it. I'm looking forward to the whole series. Again, thank you!

Jackie, you are my hero! I knew this was possible, but I wasn't brave enough to test the waters! I'm just delighted and grateful that you have generously given your time to do these tutes for us Macophiles. I love my iMac and now I love it even more! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Happy Holidays, too!
