Hello Everyone,
I thought today's post would be coming to you from Quilt Market, but alas, life happens and I had to cancel my plans on attending market at the last hour. Yes, I am sad that I am not there, but I will be at Fall Market.
In the meantime, I am trying to make the best of the situation and thought that a little sewing time was in order. So, I made triangles using purple and blue batiks!
I would say that this is a great use of my time. They are fun to make and have tons of possibilities too.
I used the Tri-Recs tool and just love it! This tool has been indispensable to me in the past and is again now.
Here is one possibility, a star. You can change out the center square and really change the look.
The triangles can become rooftops for funky houses. I really like this option. How fun would that be to make a little village of all different houses?
Diamonds without cutting them on the 60 degree angle!
Stacking the triangles for another look. Much like flying geese, but with a twist. There are so many more options, my head is spinning thinking of them.
Have any of you used the Tri-Recs tool? If so, what did you make and how did you like using this tool?
If you haven't stopped by Quilt Magazine to read my newest blog post on color, please do!! I would love to hear what your thoughts are on the subject. All the responses so far are very intriguing on the subject. Keep them coming. Just click here to read.
Until Next Time...

Thanks Jackie!
I have this tool, and I always forget what it does.
hope you are having fun!
Hope everything is OK, Jackie. What you're doing looks interesting. Looking forward to seeing what your fooling around results in!
Sorry about Market. I just bought those rulers so it's great to see what you did with them. And I got my fabric from your shop yesterday. Fabric. Rulers. I just need time now!
sorry you didn't get to go to market...but your blocks look great
So sorry about market! I never get to go to these things.. but live vicariously though the pictures and posts that are shared by others. Looking forward to the next trip and your posts from that!
Sorry you can't go to market, but it looks as though you are having way too much fun with those tools!!! Love the blocks, the star is my favourite! xo
That's too bad about missing the market, hope everything is okay. But you do get sew! Your block looks great.
I'm sorry you didn't get to go to market but you sure seem to be making the best of it!
I'm not able to go to Market either. I'm plannign on being at Market when it is in Portland in 2013! Maybe I'll see you there? I hope you keep having fun with your Tri Recs ruler. That is a good idea to use it for the roofs of houses.
I love my Tri Recs rulers! I've used them for storm at sea blocks, and star blocks. I love that you can make your units in a variety of sizes with these rulers and they always go together perfectly - I've even used them to make itty bitty 3" blocks without paper piecing!
I love seeing all the different ways to use tools like these - I have a simple square ruler, a diamond, and a hexagon, but I may have to add triangle ones like these very soon!
I'm sorry you had to cancel your plans.
I have the Tri-Recs but haven't used it yet. Thank you for sharing the possibilities.
Sorry you didn't get to attend Quilt Market. I have heard stories and seen pictures and I think I would love to attend this event, but I don't know how to accomplish that. Sounds like I need to Google that. Your triangle blocks are wonderful. I will look forward to see what they become.
Hope everything is ok with you and your family.
Those triangles make perfect roofs!
