Plain Goodness

Hello Everyone,

I hope everyone is having a great week! Mine has been hectic and busy. I'm falling behind in responding to e-mails, reading all the blogs I so love to read, and I'm just plain tired. I have also been working on some special things for some special someone's.... more on that another time.

But yesterday, I had a bright spot in my day. I had signed up for a Pay It Forward last year on Peg's blog. For those of you who don't know her quick go visit. I received a wonderful package from down under!! Wait until you see...

Some wonderful Australian candy and cookies. Didn't last long. Tim Tam's are great! I did a search online and you can get them at Target for a limited time only. So go stock up!

I have to say, I have heard of Vegemite, but I am not sure what to do with it, any suggestions would be so helpful.

Then the creme de la creme.... this wonderful table runner was made by Peg. Absolutely impeccable workmanship! I just love it!! Thanks so much, Peg!

Here you can see it gracing the chair side table in my bedroom. It is just the perfect place. That is my Mom with me in the picture.

What a bright spot in a busy week!

Now I would like to offer a bright spot to all of you. Click HERE to see a wonderful slideshow packed with some beautiful inspiration for your creative minds. Turn on your volume and enjoy!!

Until Next Time...

Vegemite? Yummmmmmmy. Toast some white bread, slather it with butter (or some type of spread) and then smear Vege very lightly over the top. I say lightly because Vegemite has a bit of a bite but then that is just the way I like it. ;-)

hooo boy.. do I know how you feel. Today is the first day in a long time where I didn't have a deadline to meet for something.. and I actually have all the posts in my google reader read.
Lovely goodies. I just heard Lily Boot say something about having vegemite on toast.. but I had never heard of it before either.

Wonderful slideshow! Hope you get everything done. :-)

Australians start eating Vegemite before they can crawl so it is an acquired taste but the way I get my American friends to love it is to get a slice of white bread, very lightly butter it and very very lightly spread the Vegemite, now when I say very very lightly I mean to say so that you can still see some butter... then sprinkle with some grated cheese, carefully cut into fingers and bake slowly in an oven till cheese is browning... allow to cool... Yummo!

I always chuckle when Americans are mixed with Vegemite. (I'm allowed to laugh because I'm American too). Do not eat it like peanut butter!!! Toast your favourite bread (mine is a multi-grain) add a little butter and a thin, tiny bit of vegemite scraped over the top. Eat immediately. I like a little cheese on mine as well sometimes. Vegemite is a yeast extract and is super rich in vitamin B. I so love that Peg sent you Vegemite. It is so uniquely Australian. What a wonderful PIF gift! A very beautiful table runner too.

Hugs!

PS Vegemite toast cut into little squares is a great snack for sick kids who don't want to eat anything else!

The vegemite - toast, butter and a thin smear of vegemite. I also put a dash in my vegetable soup in the Winter, about a teaspoon.
Tim Tams - very hard not to eat the pack in one sitting. Yum. Double coated, even yummier.
Lovely table runner to. Pegs a gem isn't she.

What a lovely well made runner. vegemite is like the UK marmite. You butter hot toast then put a thin spead of vegemite over it. I think you can also make a hot drink from it like the UK's Bovril by adding hot water to a spoonful.

Lovely!

I keep going into the kitchen just to look at the wonderful quilt. You got my taste for bright fabrics just right. It is a wonderful work of Art and is helping me to like being in that little room. Thank you so much.

you can even use vegemite in stews as flavouring.

i love vegemite on dry biscuits the best, i think graham crackers or cream crackers are similar to our sao biscuits. but be warned use spareingly it is a strong taste and i grew up with it.
my girls love it when they are ill on toast
