Oh The Possibilities...

Hello Everyone,

Many of you who know me, know that I love SILK!!  So what I am about to show you is something that I just could not pass up...

Let me introduce to you Radiance.  This fabric is a silk and cotton blend made just for quilters! The color palette above is Harvest.  Of course, when I was at Quilt Market... Miss Amy twisted my arm ever so slightly to purchase it for my shop so that all of you can give it a try too!  You can find it by clicking here, in other color ways too!  They are 1/2 yard bundles.

But that is not all...

I also purchased Kaffe Fassett ribbons for all of us to try too!  Aren't they gorgeous?  You can find them by clicking here.

But look at this...

Ribbon #1... Fabulous!

Ribbon #2... looks great with the fabrics too.

As does ribbon #3!

And ribbon #4!

Are you in the Christmas spirit?  Add a little green.

Then I saw this table runner done in the silks with ribbon...  Hmm... a project in the making, I think.  This pattern I don't have in the shop yet.  Hopefully soon.  But if you can't wait....

Just click here.

Tell me your thoughts on this fabric and ribbon.  I think it is elegant looking and so soft and silky to the touch.  I wish you could just feel it through the computer.  All I can say is YUM, I feel a new project coming on!

What would you do with Radiance and Ribbon?

Until Next Time...

Silk Block Complete

Hello Everyone,

Before I talk about the beauty you are going to see, if you are in Mansfield, MA tomorrow (5/24) , I will be doing a lecture at the Artful Hands Quilt Guild. I would love to say hello! Now onto the silk beauty.

First, I must say, I LOVE this block!! Remember the other day when I was playing with the silks and just making the block, not knowing where it was going... Well...

This is what it looks like. Vibrant and bright silks, wonky, tiny little scraps, just making my heart sing. I hope that it makes Julie's heart and lab coat sing!!

The block finished at 6" square. So some of those pieces are really tiny. But soooo worth it, and it is on its way to be part of Julie's lab coat.

I have to say, I had a very hard time putting it in that envelope and sending it off. I did it quick, like when you rip a band aid off. The pain only lasts a second or two... LOL.

Don't forget to enter the giveaway for the gorgeous reversible quilt pattern by Stephanie. Just click here for the details on how to enter. Today is the LAST day to enter!! So hurry!!

Also, don't forget that everything is on sale in my online shop this week! 15% off using the code take15 at checkout. The only thing it doesn't apply to is Kona Cotton Solids... they are already cheap. Just click here to get started.

Have a great day!!

Until Next Time...

Playing With Silks... Again!!

Hello Everyone,

So a little while ago, Julie had asked me to make a little block for her White Coat Project. As many of you know, life happened here at Canton Village Quilt Works, and I couldn't get my act together. But none the less, I had something in my mind... silks!! Most of you know I have a "not so secret" affection for silks.

Oh yes, silks will be just the thing to jazz up her white lab coat. How cool would that be to have silks on your lab coat? Really cool, at least I think so! I hope she does too.

The block doesn't need to be too big, but I think it definitely needs to be a little wonky. So these are some of my little pieces leftover from my Lil' Twister project. They are going into this block.

So far this is what I have... but definitely more "wonk" to come. Plus it is too small as is, it is growing.

Aren't the silks wonderful? I do enjoy the look and the feel! Stay tuned for the final block!

***Heads UP! Today is the last day of the You Decide Sale. Read all about it on the home page of the shop website. Just click here.***

Cool Caribbean Color

Hello Everyone,

I am not sure what it is, all the snow, the cold icy roads, the icicles hanging off of our roof, but I have been thinking warmth. Sometimes when I think warmth, my mind wanders to the beautiful waters found in the Caribbean. Right now a trip to the Caribbean is very appealing!!

But since I know that is not happening, I decided when I was at Victoria's this past weekend to buy more silks (surprise, surprise), but in a Caribbean water palette. Maybe by making a quilt with these colors, it will take me there in my minds eye.

So here is what I purchased...

Beautiful teal blues, greens, and light blues. Most of you know that I am not a blue fan, but if there is a little yellow or green in the blue and the color is completely saturated, then I am there!!

Plus if they are luscious silk dupioni's, it makes them all worth it!! The only one in the photo that may not be in the final palette is the silk in the very foreground. It has too much purple in it, I think.

Here is the whole bunch of silks together. Aren't they just glorious?

So of course, I couldn't let Victoria have all the fun with the African fabric.

So I needed to add some to my African stash. Yes, my stash is extensive, but you all understand how we have the need to add new and exciting fabrics to our stashes, right?

See the little bundle at the top of the photo, Victoria gave those to me as a little welcoming present. Thanks, V!!

But, I must say that of everything that I purchased over the weekend, this black African Brocade was the one that I was most excited about. I have been looking for this for literally years now and I found it finally!! This will be going into a special African quilt for my husband. This is the year that his quilt will be made!!

So there you have it, the results of our NYC shopping trip!

Silks, Glorious Silks

Hello Everyone,

Many of you who have been reading my blog for a while now know that I have a fascination with silk. I had recently posted here about my trip to NYC and the silk dupioni that I had acquired.

Well, last week, my friend Victoria phoned me and asked if she would like me to pick me up some more silks!! Would I ever... YES!! So off she went, and after numerous text messages and phone calls, here is what she purchased for me and for her...

Thank you so much, Victoria! Now we have to arrange a time to play with these fabrics and come up with some wonderful quilting designs. If you go over to her blog, she recently went to the Folk Art Museum which had a beautiful display of some silk quilts that she posted.

Now, these aren't the only silks that I own. My parents had gone over to China a couple of years ago and brought me the silks in the photo below.

Aren't they yummy? These are very different from the dupioni silk. They are slicker to the touch and are something that you might see in a garment. But I don't think that I will be putting them in a garment. I definitely will be making a quilt, maybe a crazy quilt? What do you think?

These are the silks that I came back with from my first trip to NYC. They go well with the silks that Victoria picked up.

So here is my thought process... for the dupioni silk I was thinking of doing an up to date Amish quilt or something similar. Also, possibly mixing them in with the silks from China for a Crazy Quilt. What do you think? Does anyone have any great ideas for using these silks or how they might look nice? I would love to know. Thank you in advance!!

Also, don't forget that today is the last day of my Kona Cotton Solids sale, only $4.25 per yard. Just click here to start shopping.
