Completed!

Hello Everyone,

My Peruvian Pinwheels quilt is now completed. I added the blue binding and it frames it up nicely. I signed the back for Rosa and wrote out a special card for her.

As you read this post now, I have delivered it to Victoria so that she can take it on the long journey to Peru for me. Oh how I wish I was going back there with her. What a wonderful magical place.

I think that Rosa will love it. Thanks, Victoria for taking it to her for me! If you are interested in making one just like this, you can see my Lil' Twister Tutorial on the left sidebar or just click here.

One other side note, this week's special in my online shop is ALL Art Gallery fabrics are on marked down to $7.15 per yard. Just click here to see all the lovely fabrics.

Quilted

Hello Everyone,

Peruvian Pinwheels is quilted! I decided to keep it a little elegant, but still simple.

I wanted the pinwheels to be accentuated and not lost, so I only did feathers on the inner border.

Then I did 1/4 inch echo quilting around the pinwheels and the inner body.

I used matching thread so as not to detract from the pinwheels.

And stitched in the ditch between the inner and out borders, leaving the outer border alone.

This is a photo of the back. I think it looks pretty cool.

And it is perfectly centered. A few of you asked me on the last post how I keep it centered. The answer is that you have to do a lot of careful measuring when piecing the back and then again after it is loaded onto the long arm. With a little planning and measuring it really comes up quite nice.

Now the binding is half sewn down by hand, so hopefully I will have some pictures of that soon for you.

Don't forget... ALL Westminster Fabrics are marked down to $7.15 per yard through March 11. We just received 100+ NEW bolts too!! Just click here to begin shopping.

The Back

Hello Everyone,

I really needed to get the back done for Rosa's Peruvian Pinwheels quilt. It will be delivered to her in just 2 short weeks!! I am so excited to be making this gift for her.

Anyway, I had some leftovers from my Colors of Peru quilt and decided they would be perfect to piece into the back for Peruvian Pinwheels.

I really like how the back came out and have it perfectly centered too.

Plus the fact that I had just the right amount of squares!!

Here they are side by side. As I type this, I have it on my long arm and am completing the quilting! This was my goal for the weekend. Hopefully tomorrow, I can get the binding on, at least by machine. This is small enough where I can hand sew the binding pretty quickly.

Also, in case you haven't heard... ALL Westminster Fabrics are marked down to $7.15 per yard through March 11. We just received 100+ NEW bolts too!! Just click here to begin shopping.

Also, don't forget to enter my giveaway by clicking here, today is the LAST day. Good Luck!

Peruvian Pinwheels Top is Done

Hello Everyone,

On Saturday I spent the afternoon completing the Lil' Twister top for my friend Rosa.

I really love the way that it turned out. The stripes, the solid blue Kona. Really everything.

I think it does evoke the colorful lifestyle of the Peruvians and hope that it will be a welcome addition to Rosa's Home.

Now I just need to piece the backing. I will be using some squares that were left over from my Colors of Peru quilt and then surround it with more of the Kona.

When choosing the solid color, I auditioned many different colors, but this was it... the blue worked best and I really love it!

Here it is side by side with it's silk sister. Two totally different types of fabric, but love the looks of both.

I officially name this quilt Peruvian Pinwheels. Hopefully next time I show it, it will be quilted and bound.

Until Next Time...
