Hello Everyone,
If you remember, I did a post on my Diamonds In The Rough quilt here and here. It wasn't quite done in either, but now I can say.... "It feels good, it is done!"
I really like it too. I did sort of a strippy chevron type of quilting.
It keeps in line with the modern feel, I think. What do you think?
The diamonds float, don't they?
I went stash diving and found the perfect binding that I had purchased years ago. Sorry this one is not available in the shop.
I realized the reason that I had purchased this binding was because the stripes were pre-printed on the bias! Clever and much easier than creating bias binding if you want your stripes on the diagonal.
And this stripe bring out the colors in the HSTs in the quilt.
I also found this great print by Valori Wells in my stash while diving! This is fabric that I also purchased years ago and thought that it went perfect with the quilt. A nice springy feel.
Here she is... "Diamonds in the Rough". I really do love how the diamonds float.
Many of you asked if it was a purchased design... the answer is no, it is a design of my own. I just made lots of HSTs using the method that I show in my tutorial here. Then I laid them on the design wall until I was happy.
This will be appearing in a show too!! So you may just get to see it in person!
Until Next Time...

That's a lovely quilt, Jackie. All the elements go together perfectly; and I love the backing....I also like striped bindings.....made one a few years ago from pieces for a "lone star quilt" that never saw the light of day (I haven't conquered piecing diamonds, yet, but I will). Thanks for sharing....love your blog.
fabulous quilt! so modern and cheerful!
The quilting is perfect for the floating diamonds
Wow Jackie! Brilliant! I love the way the quilt turns out!
The pre striped binding is perfect...but the backing is really wonderful!
Gorgeous quilt Jackie - the colors, the binding, the backing, the quilting -- all perfect! It makes me want to dig out my Kaffe fabrics and make some HSTs.
Its a lovely happy quilt. Your binding caught my eye right off and then the backing could not be a better "fit" for the look of the quilt. Great job!
Perfect! That would actually make a great kids quilt. I've got another grand on the way...........
Gorgeous color, perfect quilting, stripey happiness, awesome backing. It's all that and a box of chocolates.
I love the bright colors on the white Jackie. Congratulations on a great finish!
It's beautiful! The quilting is great, too and the binding and backing. Great quilt!!
I love the way you quilted this! I so love the straight line effect and do not like swirly type designs - I also love the binding, it goes with it so well.
Karen
A jewel! Precious.
I really love this quilt Jackie, and I am not usually a fan of white backgrounds, but this is beautiful! Love the bright colors! Did you use rulers or did you mark it for quilting the straight lines. I am a long armer too, but haven't done much straight lines. I really like the look of yours.
That binding is drool worthy! Oh my goodness!
I like the quilting as much as the quilt! And the backing is perfect for the front design, too. Nice job!
Love everything about this quilt! The binding and backing are perfect. But, it was the quilting that first caught my eye. Fabulous job!
Jackie, what a great quilt - every aspect!! And what a brilliant idea to print stripes on the diagonal. I love bias stripe bindings. I would love to see this one in person.
Love that design!! The quilting is perfect! And that binding is just beautiful!! Just love it!!
I visit often to see what scrumptious ideas you have!! I love them all!!! Thanks for posting! Sue G.
This is such a gorgeous quilt...and the binding is absolutely perfect for it!
I love it...and LOVE the backing!
that looks lovely, not a diamond in the rough anymore!
That is the most awesome quilt I've seen in a long time! White and bright arrangements are my favorite and this one, done in HST's, is just perfect. Thanks for sharing.
Fresh and clean looking, I can almost smell Spring on it! I think the quilting adds so much to the design.....I hope we get to see it with a ribbon on it next time..good luck in the show.
Happy sewing
I really love this quilt, binding looks fantastic. The HST jump out with color and contrast. I've used the beautiful backing fabric on 2 of my quilts. Really like those BIG flowers. Hope to see this in a show.
