Hello Everyone,
On Saturday, September 11, I visited NYC. Yes, it was a solemn day for people in the city and throughout the country. For people who know me, they know that I don't enjoy going into the city by myself. So when Karen (The Selvage Quilter) and Victoria (Bumble Beans) both invited me down to spend the day at their guild, I jumped at the chance.
Because Karen lives close to me, she was my "tour guide". I just sat back and enjoyed, it was a beautiful day. Thanks for the ride, Karen!! We met up with Victoria at her home for a lovely lunch and then onto the guild meeting.
The Empire State Building.
Now onto the meeting. The speaker today was Terry White a very talented quilter who spoke about embellishing your quilts with beads.
Below are two of my most favorite quilts that she showed to us.
Whimsical, bright, and bold.
Then onto some show and tell. There were tons, but here are the most significant ones for me.
This woman used Victoria's technique from 15 Minutes Play to create this wonderful quilt.
Here is my friend and host for the day, Victoria, showing a quilt that she made to thank someone for giving her a Singer Featherweight!! She looks quite serious here, doesn't she? The quilt will be loved!
And this gorgeous quilt is Victoria's Kitchen Sink Quilt. You may have seen it over at her blog, but it is spectacular in person. And big too!
And here is my lovely tour guide and friend Karen. She is showing off this beautiful quilt that she designed for the guilds BOM. You should be able to find the block on their BOM page of their website by clicking here or here. The quilt is beautiful in person.
Stay tuned for Part 2, where I will show you some of the sweets that were purchased!! YUM!!
Until Next Time...

What a terrific day spending it with fabulous quilter friends. I LOVE Victoria's kitchen sink quilt and I just came from Karen's blog. That is a spectacular tile quilt. Will we be seeing some beading from you in future quilts?
HAHAHA! Nice pic of me!
It was so much fun to have you & Karen, in the city!! now get your butt down here more often! ;-) hmm, let's work on that... where's my calendar!
What a great day, I love the BOm quilt, great stashbuster, I could make a hundred of them and it might not make a dent but it looks like a heap of fun.
All the quilts were wonderful, love the kitchen sink of Victorias.
lovely quilts! must have been nice being in the city with two that know their way around. I've only been there once and would love to go back sometime.

What a fun day and wonderful friends to spend it with. Beautiful quilts too!!! I especially love the Kitchen Sink!
Sounds like you had such a wonderful day in the city! I love NYC, and can't wait to visit family in November. I love seeing all these beautiful creations at the guild meeting.
Looks like you had a great day Jackie! I LOVE that mosaic quilt of Karen's. I'm not a huge fan of raw edge applique, but I'm thinking that might work as a pieced quilt too. Very Cool!
Sounds like a wonderful day with new friends and quilting. Cities terrify me too, way too many people;)

What a great post about our day! I love Victoria's Kitchen Sink quilt. I want to make one of those. Didn't we have a wonderful time? Let's do it again!
these quilts are incredibly inspiring!
Thanks for sharing your quilty adventure! Looks like a lot of fun inspiration with some really creative quilters, Jackie.
Best Wishes,
Heather
=)
All of the quilts are so beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
Seems like it was a fun trip for all involved......will look forward to Part 2.
Oh my - Victoria's quilt is wonderful. Actually, all the quilts are wonderful. You must have had a fabulous day.
Hi Jackie - Saw you at the Empire Guild meeting but didn't meet you. That's my scrap quilt you showed, but actually the technique is one I've been using after seeing it several years ago in an AQS magazine. The author called it Mile-A-Minute quilting. But I do follow Victoria's blogs and thanks for showing my quilt.
What gorgeous quilts -- and what fabulous pictures of the NYC buildings! That Chrysler building really makes me think of the Pickled Ladies blocks. :)
Gorgeous and stunning quilt, very inspiring! thanks for sharing, Jackie.
Love the idea of visiting another quilt guild with friends! Love Victoria's quilts especially Everything But the Kitchen Sink. Thanks for sharing!
What a fabulous time Jackie, love all those gorgeous quilts, esp V's amazing kitchen sink quilt! xo
Hi Jackie -- I just found out the lady peeking out of the Mile a Minute Green Quilt is my friend Mary, who now lives in New York after leaving me in South Louisiana. I loved your story line. One day, I will make it to New York too. Take Care.
