Hello Everyone,
You should all remember the Kaffe quilts that I have been working on and posting about, right? Well for the one that I finished, a few posts ago, I thought I would piece the backing. So, I started to piece it and this is what became of some of the scraps...
"Hmmm..." I said to myself. This looks like it would be a great coin quilt.
So I kept on sewing scraps and ended up with three rows! I liked it!
So I put it on the floor (design wall still occupied with another project) to lay it out with white to see how it would look. Of course, at this point my helper, Pavi, came by to inspect.
I think he liked the white. He laid down on it for his stamp of approval. Thanks, Pavi!
So I sewed the rows together with the white and, VOILA, my quilt back. NOT!!!!
I just thought it was too pretty to be the back, so now I have another quilt front!
I just thought it was too pretty to be on the back. Plus, the way I have decided to quilt the other top, this backing just wouldn't work out. So the initial intention was a good one, but turned out better. At least I think so!
So the rest of this week, I will be spending tying up loose ends before I go to Quilt Market!! I am getting excited! In the meantime, I have created a new Etsy treasury for you to feast your eyes. You can see it here, but hurry, it expires on Thursday. It is all QUILTS!!
Also, of note, don't forget Amy's Blogger Quilt Festival begins this week! Be sure to have your quilts ready for posting.
And for more inspiration, check out the new quilts uploaded to my gallery. I think you will like.
Until Next Time...

it is very pretty - I love all those colors. I should think of doing something like that with all these scraps that I have. But - I have to many other things to finish up on right now so I better not even think of anything else.!

I agree, much too pretty for a back. The Kaffes are so beautiful next to white.
That is beautiful, I love all the colors!
Love the colours ... and what a great way to use the leftovers...:o) and I think its a fantastic quilt number two... :o)
I agree, it's far too sweet to be on the back, very yummy fabric combo.
Ohhh så pretty and the white makes it pop up and complete it. I can very well understand why you will keep this as a quilttop too..
I guess you can always find another backing for your other quilt ;-))
Are you going to Huston Quilt Festival?? Lucky girl anyway!!
It is WAY TOO PRETTY for a back. I love it.
That is just so pretty! It needs to be on the top, I love looking at it. Makes me smile.
Love the coins Jackie!! Way too cute for a quilt back. Lots of eye candy in the gallery and treasuries!! Thanks.
I absolutely love the surprise quilt top. One of these days I have to cut into my Kaffe fabrics.
I LOVE it! Have a great time at the Quilt Festival. I can hardly wait to see all of the pictures.
Very nice Jackie. I love when this happens to me. Some of my best designs came about unintentionaly. This is fabulous!
Love the little coin quilt, which can now be enjoyed in it's own right. Playing with fabrics is so fun, and you never know where it will lead you.
it is beautiful and I agree way to pretty for a back!
Definitely too nice for the back! I like happy accidents like that :) Very beautiful colours btw!
You make such pretty quilts Jackie. This is just lovely and I adore your helper.
Oh that is a feast for the eyes!! Out of a back a front is born!!! Love it!
Yes, it deserves to be a quilt not a back. Candy-licious!
LOVE IT! :)
That new quilt top is absolutely stunning!!!!
Andi :-)
It is beautiful! To pretty for the back.
I'm so glad you decided to find another back because this is a quilt front. Beautiful.
Piwacket agrees with Pavi...that is one beautiful quilt top! Perhaps you should call it Serendipity since it's such a happy accident. Have fun at Quilt Market.
Definitely deserves to be a quilt on its own - love those fabrics on the white background.
Oh I love it! Wonderful quilt. Of course I love his fabrics. Very beautiful work and quilts! Thanks for sharing ~ Stephanie
Hahaha -- you know it's a good quilt when the kitty loves it! I definitely couldn't have used that on a back -- it's too gorgeous!
You have to love a cat who helps!
The kitty seal of approval is so special! That is a great quilt -- love the fabrics!
That is one cute helper you have there Jackie....and the fabrics just 'jump'....gorgeous.
I love your new quilt top - just beautiful and too nice for a back.
Oh Jackie I love it...I'm so glad you didn't use these gorgeous fabrics for the backing, such a sunny quilt. xo
I agree..that is definitely another quilt top...not a back! Gorgeous use of those fabrics!
Smart you - two quilts instead of one! Love all the rainbow colors... so pretty! ;)
Love from Texas! ~bonnie
I'm with Pavi, love the white with the Kaffe's. Smart use of leftovers! Too nice for the back of a quilt!
Jackie, I adore your new Quilt back - NOT!!! lol
Don't you love it when these things happen!! Woohoo!
Sooo very pretty!
It would have been such a shame to use this as a back
hugs,
Sharon
Even better! I love those fabrics :) Thanks for the mention!
So so pretty!! The colors are just beautiful. Love it!
Your kitty is so cute :)
Very nice, Jackie! You can't go wrong with Kaffe. Envious of your trip to Houston, take lots of pictures!
Very pretty Jackie!
I've just received my first Kaffe "jungle stripe" series, sent by my one good friend from Singapore. Excited!
What a great display of fabrics. I think it is beautiful. You will quilt it really lovely too, I know.
love when serendipity strikes! i'm so jealous you're going to market! i know you'll have a ball...travel safely!
The Kaffe fabrics are wonderful. I've been using them in the Folklore quilt with felts. LOL another front instead. I don't blame you at all.
What a bonus quilt, so gorgeous and colourful, I suppose all your quilts get a cat scan, lol.
I really like that. I normally am not a big Kaffe fan, but I love the colors and gradation. This is probably my the best quilt I've seen using his fabrics. No lie. I think you're right, that doesn't deserve to go on the back of a quilt.
What a gorgeous back . . . I mean top! LOL!
So much fun! What a great 'scrap' quilt. Those Kaffes are just beautiful.
Too gorgeous!!! I'm so glad you didn't put this on the back of a quilt! Have fun at market...maybe one of these time I'll see you there. Are you going in Spring?
Love it!! Glad it's going to be a front :)
