Distracted

Hello Everyone,

So this week was very busy for me, in a good way. I was busy quilting customer quilts and busy with lots of other good things. They were all very good distractions. Here is a list of what I accomplished and feel good about:

1. E-mailed and posted my September Newsletter.
2. Uploaded my 5th Podcast here and in iTunes. (By the way, thank you to all who have listened to me talk, given me suggestions, and reviewed my podcasts on iTunes. I really appreciated you listening. Keep them coming!)
3. Getting ready for Quilt Market in Houston. Just a few more weeks. It is earlier this year and of course always fun. If anyone is going let me know, I would love to meet up with you.
4. Took little Pavi to get neutered on Wednesday. It was like nothing ever happened. He was playful as ever, when I picked him up.
5. Got my car serviced, really needed it!
6. I did my first Etsy Treasury and included some people you might know. You can check it out here but you need to do it before Sunday the 20th, it expires then.
7. Then I did a little sewing right here... Do you like????

I signed up for the Sue Ross BOM from Material Obsession all the way down under!!

I received the first two blocks and chose the contemporary way. All Kaffes and bright ones too! You know I love that!

So I wanted to do a practice block like everyone else and this is what I chose. What do you think?

I chose a black center, but forgot to upload the picture. I have to work on the outer ring yet. But I did not hand sew this as it suggests. I machine pieced it all!

Then I received the latest issue of Quilter's Newsletter Magazine and was just WOWED by this pattern. I must make it or at least put it on my list of to do quilts. I was thinking it would look great in 30s repro or in Kaffe fabrics. What are your thoughts??

Okay, so here is a close up, 30s or Kaffes?? Which do you think?

Anyway, I must focus the rest of the week. I have some big deadlines to meet and looking forward to each one.

My next post, I am going to give you a big update on the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. So stay tuned.

Until Next Time...

Your practice block turned out great. I love that curved piecing. Was it difficult?

Love your work, Jackie, as usual. And I'm so jealous that you get to go to Quilt Market. Have fun!

beautiful links to the esty products! I think that quilt pattern that you show would be lovely in just about any colors but Kaffe would be great.

Your practice BOM is looking great! And I love the Sandhill Stars pattern. My vote is for Kaffe. With all the rich colors and variations in values, you will be able to get a lot of movement in those stars!

I would vote for Kaffes in that wonderful pattern also. Love the BOM coming out of MO. I wanted to join, but didn't want to pay for such expensive shipping. The first block is my favorite.

The Kaffe colors would be great for that quilt but you would have to stay with the smaller scale prints or do fussy cutting on the larger ones I would think.

The Etsy treasury was a great boost of color to start the morning with.

Oh wow, those BOMs are going to be fantastic! Love the spiral block and that quilt pattern is stunning.

Love the swirling practice block. I think Kaffe's would look great in that quilt.

Wow, Jackie, your practice block looks great! I also machine pieced my practice block and it came out pretty good. I'm still fiddling with the border though (meaning - not doing it).

That Sandhill Stars quilt is fantastic! It looks very intimidating to me. I think it would look great in either 30's or Kaffe. Why don't you do one of each. ;)

Oh yes.....I.LIKE.EVERYTHING.

Love your practice block, and I'm impressed by the list of all you got done.
The Sandhill Stars Q is yummy. I'd vote for the bold, graphic colors you'd get with Kaffe fabrics -- or concentrate on the bolder 1930s tones, navy, red, dark coral, black, etc. Looking forward to seeing your version.

Practice...you don't need it girl! Lovely block, so nice and flat. I love the quilter's newsletter quilt, gorgeous!

Jackie, I will be in Houston! I get there Wednesday for preview night and will head home on Saturday. Can you meet me sometime Thursday or Friday?

And I love the Sandhill Stars pattern. My vote is for Kaffe.

Wow, you HAVE been busy!
I love the pink and black.
Thanks for putting my quilt in your treasury. I'm honored.
I was planning on going to quilt market but then decided not to. I'm going to the festival though.

The BOM looks like a lot of fun. Do the star quilt in Kaffe!

Love the Whirly Gig block--I thought about joining but the $20.00 shipping scared me off. Is it really that much shipping every month on top of the BOM price? I would so love to find that patterns and templates!

Your practice block is awesome!
As for the quilt, I vote for Kaffe.

I'm loving seeing these amazing material obsession blocks!!! Stunning pink and black combo. As for the other---Kaffe!

Are you going to market as a vendor or shopper? I read your newsletter and saw you're going. My dream destination!

I love the practice block, you might have to just keep going with the black and white version, it looks great. Now I can't wait for me to get that mag in the mail, I say use your Kaffes.

My goodness. I think I should go take a nap in your honor... :)

I love that minty green fabric with the pink on your BOM pic. Good luck with that. I also would machine sew...for sure.

I like that pattern too. I'm thinking kaffe... but it might just be because those batiks look somehow similar to what I think the kaffe fabrics would look in that pattern. Clear as mud?

Oh your practice block is gorgeous Jackie, I love those colours and with a black centre, yum! Can't wait to see what you have chosen for the outer ring. And of course, my vote would be Kaffe's. What a gorgeous pattern. xo

Jackie - you're brave to machine piece curves - I would have hand pieced it as suggested. The fuschia and B&W is a great combination.

That is a stunning pattern - I vote for Kaffee - of course!

I saw this BOM that others are working on (from down under). This looks like from, especially in the bright, contrasting fabrics you picked. For the star quilt, I vote for smaller prints, 30's would be nice or brights.

Tara said...

I'm a huge fan on 30s prints, but I think it will just look like an old quilt if you do that. I think the Kaffe's are the way to go! I love that swirly block! Makes me think of a peppermint!

Your practice block looks fabulous. Can't wait to see the actual block. As far as the Sandhill Stars quilt goes - I vote Kaffe.

I loved your new BOM project , by the way it looks a bit difficult though...

Love your test block and yes, isn't the Sandhill Stars pattern beautiful! Kaffe fabric would be wonderful, but 1930's fabric sounds interesting.

Your practice block looks great, Jackie! Wasn't it FUN!?!? Love the Sandhill Stars quilt -- I just picked up the new QNM yesterday and was admiring that one. Let us know how that goes. :-)) I like the Christmas-y flying geese quilt in the mag too.

Ohmygosh, you've been so busy, you've lost your mind! That Sandhill stars quilt is gorgeous, but holy cow -- what a project! I think it would look gorgeous made out of dog....well, you know -- whatever you choose, it will be fantastic. And OOOOhhhhhh, I LOVE that block you're working on. I SO want to make one. Are you going to paper piece the outer ring???

corry said...

You're a busy girl jackie! I love the practice block for the BOM. And I vote for Kaffe fabrics.

I love the practice block. Sandhill Stars looks very ambitious. KF fabrics would be heavenly!

I love your block! And the black center will really be perfect! Love the pattern in Quilter's Newsletter as well! I'm looking forward to receiving some more Kaffe fabrics that I recently ordered! What to do...I'm addicted to nearly every kind of fabric!

My what a lot you've been doing. I am green with envy! What a gorgeous quilt. I can see it working with both Kaffe and 30s and looking good in their own way.

The swirly pattern reminded me of ice cream cones top view with raspberry sauce and chocolate sprinkles.

jacquie said...

you have been busy! i'm behind as usual, so i haven't listened to the podcast yet...putting it on my to do list! (i'd go with the kaffe btw).
