Generosity Abounds!!

Hello Everyone,

Even though Christmas is fast approaching, I am still busily quilting away at customers quilts. Oh, and now my December newsletter is available. However, I have had some time to get together with friends for dinner and lunch. This is always fun! A little sewing has been going on, but not much.

This week was a wonderful week and I would like to talk about what 2 of my wonderful blogging friends have done. First, I would like to talk about Stephanie. This week I received a box, which you see here:

You can see it is filled with her wonderful snuggly pillowcases. She had been having a giveaway on her blog. No, I did not win. However, I had mentioned in my comment that if I did win the 1 pillowcase, I would donate it to the Hole In The Wall Gang Kids Camp. It is a charity of our guild and each child goes home with one of our pillowcases. It is located here in Connecticut. These kids suffer from a variety of ailments from Cancer to Serious Blood diseases and also have many special needs. Any way, our goal as a guild is to donate over 300 pillowcases this year for the kids. We are not a big guild, so it is is a big task.

So when I did not win, Stephanie wrote an e-mail saying how much this touched her heart and would be sending me some of her pillowcases as she would like to contribute. I immediately responded thanking her. To my surprise, she sent 15, yes, 15 wonderful flannel pillowcases to be loved by these children.

Many, many thanks to Stephanie!!!! She even included the pink one on top for me. How sweet is that! I just couldn't believe it, my heart is overflowing. So I am going to offer to anyone out there who is interested in donating a pillowcase or two to my guild for the Hole In The Wall Gang, to e-mail me, I have a wonderful pillowcase pattern I can send to you and my address. So, if you are interested, please contact me, trust me the children will be grateful!!

Now onto my next blogging sweetie, Jane! When I set up the Black and White Quilt Challenge Project, Jane was one of the first ones to sign on, yay Jane! After it got going she realized quickly how many wonderful blogging people had signed on and that I was working hard answering e-mails and posting people in the sidebar, responding to comments, well you get the picture.

So any way, she wanted to do something nice for me. I said, "for me, why?" she said, "just because". Well, how nice was that. I was not expecting anything in return for having a fun time with my blogging friends making Black and White Quilts.

So, I received this in the mail this week:

Jane knows that I like 30's fabrics and I love what she has sent to me!! I can't wait to use them they are absolutely lovely. Thank you soooooo much Jane, you are a sweet heart!

That was my week in a nutshell.  So I say, we should all try to show some random acts of kindness this month. It really makes you feel good as well as the recipient. I know I am doing just that....

By the way 3 more posts until 100!

Until next time, Happy Quilting!

P.S. My friend Deb has now placed all her inventory at 75% off. Go visit her at Gone Quilting.

After we get through the holiday rush at work I can make some pillowcases. I moved from Connecticut where I spent most of my 50+ years to Wisconsin just 6 years ago. If you have a specific pattern that you would like them made from then please let me know.

How so very kind of Stephaine, she is so kind and the children will love them. Also, thank you for your kind words, you to are kind and work hard! Do your pillowcases need to be flannel? I would never be able make one, but if you can give me an idea of how much fabric each uses, I will send your quild some fabric.

Hi Jackie,

Count me in on the pillowcase. I'll make at least one, though I don't know if I'll get it done before or after Christmas.

Right now we are without power since Thursday 11 p.m. The prognosis for it to return is Monday midnight or Tuesday. Sounds bad, but we are more fortunate than most because we have a generator that powers the heat, water, toilets, microwave, computers, etc. Unfortunately, no power in my sewing room, though. How could I have thought I could go without sewing for days? Bad decision. See you in PA. soon.

Big hugs to Stephanie and Jane!!! Send me the pillowslip pattern and I'll make up some slips from stash - I have cotton or flannel... or I may try to get some unique Australian fabric... hopefully the time frame isn't too tight.
Merry Christmas!

How fantastic!

I sooner read blogs than the news as the acts of random kindness make for better reading...it just shows the world isn't that bad!

If you send me the pattern and the specifications (fabric type) I'd be happy to make a pillowcase or two...
