What Did I Do Over 3 Days?

Hello Everyone,

On Friday, I took the train into NYC to see my friend Victoria of Bumble Beans and spent the weekend.  You probably know that if you read my post on Sunday.  But as soon as I got there I asked Victoria if I could make one of her Triangles Galore blocks to add to her growing collection.

We had fun picking the fabrics for the block and this is what I created!

Here it is playing nicely with the other blocks that she made.  Victoria has a tutorial for this block if you would like to give it a try.  While there we also worked together to turn it into a Paper Pieced block.  She now has a PDF available for a free download if you would like to Paper Piece this block.

Just click here for the tutorial and the download.

Also, while there I made my Cherrywood challenge block for the NYC Metro Mod guild meeting.  I chose this palette and am happy with how it played with the other blocks that were made!  Looks a bit like and Easter egg.

Thanks, Victoria for a great weekend!

But before I left, I made this block for our Two's Company Bee.

This block is for Mary and it was so much fun to make!  I really love to paper piece... but I think many of you know that already!  Mary it is on it's way to you!

Also, I have another GIVEAWAY going on,  yes that is right!  If you would like to enter this fat quarter giveaway, just click here for the details.

And remember ALL week long the Batiks in my shop are marked down to $8.25 per yard!  Just click here to check them out!

Quilted and Bound

Hello Everyone,

I am so pleased, my little quilt "Night Flight" is now quilted and bound! I did it, I made the September 2 deadline. Yippee!

So I wanted to show you before I send it off. It was all because I had this one block that I had made years ago and decided to finish...

The star... I just thought that that needed some simple quilting.

The large flying geese, I felt needed something a little more special. Also, I used variegated thread.

Here is the entire quilt. I used Kona Black for the binding.

I used Terrie Mangat's Knot Dot for the backing. Added the sleeve and the labels.

Finished at 15" X 20". So that is how this unfinished block turned into a quilt. Now on its way to the Original Sewing & Quilt Expo in Chantilly, VA and then will make the rounds to the other locations. It will be part of the NY Metro Mod Guild Exhibit.

Don't forget to enter my giveaway by clicking here.

Night Flight

Hello Everyone,

Remember back in April when I blogged about this here, and then again last week here. Well I did finish this block and made it into a mini quilt for the NY Metro Mod Guild traveling show.

I added large geese and...

really teeny tiny flying geese. Pure insanity! Not sure that I will do those ever again.

Here it is Night Flight. It finishes at 15" X 20" and still needs to be quilted and bound. I have to get it all done and sent off by September 2. Do you think I can do it??? If you want to see it in person and the others from the NY Metro Mod Guild you can see them traveling the country at the Original Sewing and Quilting Expo beginning in Chantilly, VA on September 29. Be sure to check the other locations and dates!

Don't forget... all batiks are on sale for $8.00 per yard through the 19th. Just click here to get started.

Until Next Time...

Sew In With NYC Metro Mod

Hello Everyone,

After all the excitement of the Quilter's Take Manhattan event in NYC, we did manage to get some sewing in with friends.

Everyone is a member of the NYC Metro Mod quilt guild and all extremely talented. I wanted to share some of the wonderful things that everyone was working on that day.

First up, this was Earamicha's Alzheimer's Quilt. I just love it, it really says a lot don't you think? Well done.

This one is by Victoria... Hmmm... I wonder if she had me in mind? They are totally my colors!

A quilt part of the Jay McCarroll challenge. This has his new line of fabric Habitat.

A string quilt... Love it!

David looking pensive, but in front of a very beautiful round robin quilt.

Teri Lucas gave a wonderful machine quilting demo. Hope to see you soon Teri!

Earamicha in front of her wonderfully graphic quilt.

Kim's quilt in progress. I love the color mix.

More works in progress.

Here is my block. Yes, the block was already made. What I did manage to make that day was the very teeny tiny flying geese you see on the side of this block. One word for geese this small... Insane!

Nicole with her beautiful Jay McCarroll challenge. Pomegranate was definitely the right choice, Nicole.

What a fun day and lots of inspiring projects!

One last thing... don't forget that all Australian fabrics are marked to $7.95 per yard through Friday in my shop! Find yours by clicking here.

Until Next Time....

Quilters Take Manhattan Part 1

Hello Everyone,

As you know, I spent the weekend in NYC at the Quilters Take Manhattan event. All I can say is that I had a blast. I also promised to share this with you.

So let's get to it...

I stayed with my friend Victoria and as convenient as it would be the first event was at her home. We didn't have to go far. The first night The Alliance for American Quilts interviewed Victoria for the Quilter's SOS.

She had to pick a quilt, called her touchstone quilt, a quilt of significance. It was her Kitchen Sink Quilt. Then they did her "mug shot" in front of it as her interview will be entered into the Library of Congress.

You will be able to find the transcript of her interview by clicking here. Let me tell you that the interview was nothing less than fantastic!

A great picture of several of the Modern Connecticut Quilters with Victoria and friends.

Victoria and Jay McCarroll! For those of you who aren't familiar with him, he is the first winner of Project Runway and is a designer of clothing and quilting fabric with Free Spirit. You can find some of his fabric in my shop by clicking here.

Loved seeing my NYC Metro Mod Quilt Guild buddies!!

And guess who else was there the entire weekend.... Yes, Mark Lipinski! He can make any event just way too fun. Thanks Mark for brightening my weekend.

Here I am with our lovely panel of Modern Quilters, John Adams, Jennifer Paganelli, Kim H., Melanie Testa, and Nancy Soriano. All fabulous and all very diverse.

And how about this... Amy Milne, Executive Director of the Alliance and Mark Dunn, Owner of Moda Fabrics handing out door prizes! Just fabulous people and I was so happy to have met them!

More to come next post, so stayed tuned for some fun!

PS. There is a BIG sale going on in my shop right now... All Australian fabrics are marked down to $7.95 per yard through 8/12/11. Just click here to get started.

Until Next Time...
