Doctor Who

Hello Everyone,

We are "Whovians" in our house. We love Doctor Who.  Have you ever watched the show?  If you haven't you must!  It has been on TV since 1963!

Anyway, you can imagine how excited I was when I found Doctor Who themed fabric on Spoonflower.

Here are the various designs that I purchased.

My daughter was thrilled with the variety of TARDIS (Time and relative dimension in space) fabric.  A TARDIS is basically a time machine the doctor uses for time travel.

Love the character fabric too!

Got to love this Dalek fabric!

Here is a photo of a Police Call Box.  This is basically what the TARDIS looks like on the outside... but not on the inside!

Here is our current Doctor Who... Matt Smith.

If you have BBC America or BBC wherever you live you can watch Doctor Who.  Or you can download them from iTunes.  Are you a Whovian?

Now I need to figure out what to make with the fabric, any suggestions??

Speaking of fabric... ALL Black and White and Australian Aboriginal fabric is on sale this week in my shop!  Just click here and here to see what is in stock.

I am teaching a paper piecing class today, so next post, I hope to have tons of photos!

Until Next Time...

Huge Whovians here Jackie! And Steven Moffatt has taken us across from the Dr to the modernised Sherlock so brilliantly as well, have you seen it? Love the fabric and cannot wait to see what you make with it. Def a quilt to defeat aliens in any case! xo

There are weeping angels on that character fabric. No no no, couldn't have that in my house. Blink scared me more as an adult than the episodes I used to watch as a kid.

I agree with Shevvy! I only watch sometimes while my husband and daughter are definitely Whovians! But I saw that episode and was totally scared! I say make a quilt to tremble under while watching Blink!

Hi Jackie,
Whatever you make has to be bigger on the inside than the outside!

Wish our local PBS station was able to show the current shows; we're about a season behind (compared to those on the BBC).

My daughter is a huge Dr. Who fan so I made her a wallhanging for Christmas with the Dalek "exterminate" panel in the center, and the border of the tardises (tardii?) at the bottom. I quilted "allons-y!" on the borders. I never posted a picture on my blog because I wasn't sure about copyright issues--but maybe I should just go ahead and do it. It turned out pretty cute, and more importantly, she loves it!

Oh, yes, our family loves the 21st century Dr. Who! I've liked all three, but I think my favorite was David Tennant.

Hopefully, this comment will work if I can figure out the two-word verification!

And here I thought my life was complete when my hubby built a LEGO TARDIS, combining two of my loves - now I MUST HAVE this fabric!!! Not sure what to make with it (although a REALLY REALLY long fabric scarf would be ironic???) but it is inspired!

Love the show! When my husband was young his mom knitted scarves for his 2 brothers. One still has his. Last year my husband decided he wanted one and taught himself to knit to start one!

We've been stalwart Whovians for quite some time, also following Captain Jack Harkness to Torchwood (a much, much darker show). David Tennant will always be my favorite Dr. Who, although Matt Smith certainly has his own charms.
And I'm headed to Spoonflower right now!

My husband David is English and he's watched Dr. who since the first episode with William Hartnell as The Doctor. We don't get it on our BBC International here in Panama. But he's able to download episodes and entire seasons from Amazon. I like it - but David is a real aficionado - I think it's a British thing!

Loove the tardis fabrics!! DH is a Dr Who fan. I remember watching Dr Who as a child and William Hartnell will always be Dr Who to me!

Spoonflower here I come! Oh and you have to make big floor cushions to sit on while watching episodes!

ooh, those are all awesome fabrics. I love the recent incarnations of DW, but can't go back and watch the early ones. Matt Smith is my Doctor. Waiting eagerly for the next series.

I have been a Whovian ever since I can remember. I used to watch with my dad when it was on PBS. When I had all the DISK channels I recorded all of the current 6 seasons. Im missing season 7 but I will catch up some day. I love those fabrics and periodically search them out to drool! I would love to do a Dr who block swap someday.

After seeing tests like this:

I wouldn't choose anything that needed to be washed.

I loved Dr. Who as a kid! I've watched an episode here & there of the newer stuff.

Hello. I'm looking for Dr Who fabric for my 15yo son. He has discovered the show on Netflix thanks to a teacher. LOL Both of my younger boys like The Doctor, but middle one likes him more.

I have a pattern called "Hanky Panky" that uses fat quarters I want to use. I'll fussy cut around some though so I'll have to get more than that.
