Lilacs, A Cat, and the Winners!

Hello Everyone,

This weekend I had the opportunity to take a walk around my yard and inspect some of my gardens. Right now one of my most favorite plants is in bloom, the lilacs!! I love them for several reasons, they are colorful, fragrant and just plain beautiful. Here is a site that I found that sells 90 different cultivars!! Check it out here. Amazing, who knew there where that many?

I have 3 different varieties, which I love and will show in the photos below.

These two photos are of the most common lilac that I see. The light lavender color

It looks a little lighter here because it is faded by the sun. This one sits on the south side of the house.

This one is a darker variety. Very rich deep purple, almost the color of plums or eggplant. Hmmm... I must be hungry!

This one is a white variety. It also sits on the south side of the house. One thing I love about my lilacs is they have tons of blooms. I just wish they would last for longer.

As I was taking the photos, I had a little helper keeping his eye on me. I think Pavi was wondering why he couldn't come out and help me. So in lieu of him coming to help me, I took some handsome photos of him.

Some of you might remember when we adopted him last year and he was just a kitten. Well, he is now 1 year old. His alleged birthday was April 15. He is now a full grown cat with the spirit of a kitty. Handsome boy!

Okay, onto more important things. I know you have been waiting for the giveaway winners. Two of you from this post have won 12 fat quarters of your choosing from my shop!!

With the help of Mr. Random Integer Generator, we have two winners:

Comments # 25 and 191!! They are... drumroll please, Nancy from With Thread in Hand... and Wanda from Exuberant Color.
Congratulations!!

Don't forget today is the last day of my sale and the chance to be entered into the Fat Quarter Giveaway. Go to this post to find out the details!!

Until Next Time...

The lilacs are stupendous. I have never seen this flower and they must be gorgeous when they are all piled up together and the whole tree is in bloom.

Love the lilacs! I only have the light purple ones, but a dark one is on my shopping list for this year! :0)

I have seen advertised this year a lilac that blooms ALL summer. I know they did that with hydrangeas a few years back and I got one and it does bloom all summer long. I wish I could figure a spot to try one of the all-season-long lilacs....as I, too, love the smell of them and regret that they finish blooming so quickly. Congrats to your two lucky winners!

WooHoo! Congratulations to your winners! Little Pavi looks SO cute -- let the poor little boy come out with you LOL. I LOVE lilacs and I'm with you -- can't they stay around just a teeny bit longer???

Oh I love lilacs!! so pretty. We do not see a lot of them around here, the winters do not usually get cold enough for them. You see some but some years there are not near as many flowers on them as other times. I think I will still maybe plant a couple bushes this fall anyhow and give it a try.

I have one purple bush and had a white one. I replanted the white bush on the opposite side of the house and now it is purple too. I didn't realize it would propagate like that. I plan on taking some of the shoots and replanting them next year, love having them in the yard.

Beautiful blooms! Your kitty is a cutie too. Looks alot like my Alice. She's almost 5 weeks old though, so quite a bit smaller than your guy! ☺

I don't have any lilacs -- and I'm not really sure why not! They are so beautiful. This year I'm enjoying the neighbor's as they spill over into my yard :).

Sammy once pressed up against the window screen in an upstairs window and popped the screen out! She then fell out on the awning (which was rolled in) and then fell further down and was caught by her claws, clinging to the screen of a kitchen window downstairs. My children saw her and were scared to death. I think that was the first of her nine lives!
