Hello Everyone,
Boy am I behind! I am sure many of you will remember me working on this wonderful quilt from this post. Well, I finished the top a while ago and am just getting around to posting it now.
I have to say that I am in love with this top!! Fun, cheerful, bright, and easy to put together.
All the striped fabrics were from my stash. I had gotten them about 5 years ago at a quilt shop that had them on clearance for about $3 per yard... Score! What a great top they made.
The story behind this quilt was that I was looking for a project to make with these striped fabrics. So, of course I went straight to my Kaffe books. It is from his Passionate Patchwork book and is called Shirt Stripe Boxes.
In the book his quilt was a totally different color palette. It was made from old shirtings so they were mainly blue and white. You can see a picture of the quilt from the book in my previous post by clicking here.
But have no fear, he has a similar pattern called Earthy Mitered Boxes in his newest book Simple Shape, Spectacular Quilts. That quilt has a border on it and the stripes may be a little more well matched than mine.
Although it may look like my stripes are pretty well mitered, look closer, they are not even close to being mitered perfect. But I just love the illusion. I didn't fuss with them at all. They were just pieced as is and the result is what I am in love with!!
Now onto to making the backing and then to get it on my long arm and quilt it!! It will be a well used quilt when I am done. The added bonus is that it will always remind me of the vibrant colors that we saw when we visited Peru.
Don't forget to enter my giveaway in my previous post. You have through May 23!

YAY!! It's done and it looks smashing Jackie!! I love it and it does remind you of the Peru colours! Beautiful!!
That is a fabulous quilt - those colours and stripes and squares just keep on moving and moving. I could look at that all day. I am in the middle of making a Kaffe quilt for my mum and just loving how confident he is with coloure whereas I am just terrified of it and never know what to do with it. But, as he has made all the design decisions for me, I can just relax and enjoy the sewing. I can't wait to see yours finished and quilted. Do you know how you will quilt it yet?
looks awesome. I am super impressed that the fabric was $3 a yard.
It's early morning, I am drinking my coffee rambling through my daily "reads". Then I hit your site -- This has to be one of the most beautiful quilts I have seen. You have done Kaffe proud. Have a great day.
Wow! It's absolutely fabulous Jackie! :0)
Eye-catching and I love the movement. Vibrant and wonderful.
It is truly beautiful Jackie, I love those saturated colours. I would love to visit Peru one day, how lovely to have a reminder. xo
Beautiful!!
Wow, that really pops! I love it! Makes me want to cut into my (small) stash of stripes!
Absolutely gorgeous! Can't wait to see how you quilt it.
I love it! And I, too, have a stash of stripes and that book of Kaffe's. Seeing your quilt might be just what I needed to go for it. Thank you!
Wow, this will be a stunner when it is totally done.
Your quilt is stunning! I love the colors. You could only feel happy while snuggling up in it.
I really like it. Have you decided what kind of quilting you are going to do on it to go with all those stripes?

I know that inspiration quilt! I loved it too. You have done an excellent job. The colors are fabulous. Can't wait to see it quilted! You'll do a beautiful job, I am quite sure!
Gorgeous!
I have some of Kaffe's stripes, but I don't think I have enough for a quilt. Maybe a pillow or two? I love how yours turned out. Very happy and bright!
Very beautiful!
Gorgeous Jackie!
Wow Jackie, this is such a stunning quilt, love all the vibrant colors.
What a beautiful quilt, Jackie! It's just gorgeous!
I love it - all those beautiful colors and dizzying patterns!
I love it. All those bright colors and stripes... just perfection.
Jackie, it is spectacular! I am in love. I can hardly wait to see it after it is quilted.
That is wonderful. I like it much better than the one featured in the book. Your colours are so much more exciting.
It is amazing, Jackie! Love the graphic patterns of the stripes!!
Love, Love, Love it! Thank you for giving us a great idea to use up our stripes. and I adore how you didn't make them all "perfect". It wouldn't have been the same. I once knew a lady who owned a quilt shop and she obsessed so over each quilt, she never got much finished because they all had to be so perfect. I quit showing her my stuff because .... well. SO, thanks for keeping it real!XO
Wow Jackie! I love this! Of course I would since I love bright fabrics.
Can't wait to see it quilted and bound.
WOW! It's gorgeous!!
This is really amazing! I may have to check my stash for some stripes:)
Really gorgeous, Jackie!
It has so much life. Almost 3d looking. I really admire your ability to put this together. IT took vision Jackie.
Oh Jackie, I LOVE it. The colors and stripes just dance!!
Once upon a time I saw the blue and white version you speak of. I was so inspired. I cut up an old shirt and made one gorgeously lined up blue, red and white striped block. It was so much work! And it was 6". I did a quick calculation of how long it would take me... and I set it aside for the time being. It was too much for me. I can really appreciate all that went into this. AND I started mine about a year ago... maybe it's time for a second block!! : )
It's gorgeous...and I so agree with Nanette...it takes VISION to make a quilt like this!
My kinda quilt - my kinda colors - LOVE it!! In my large Kaffe stash I do not have any of his woven stripes - hummm... do I need to buy more fabric?
I am in love with your quilt!!!
Wonderful, absolutely wonderful! A long wait to use the fabric but it was waiting for this quilt!
It's stunning! How will you quilt it?
Jackie I just love this one...

Beautiful Jackie - stunning colours and I love the stripes.
Fabulous! The bright cheery colors are just wonderful.
You gave such life to this pattern with your bold and bright stripes. Kaffe's blue/white one was OK, but this version just sings!
I'd love to make one too, but the last time I counted, I think I found only 8 or 10 stripes in my stash. Shopping time?
Just one word - fabulous!! The colors are amazing in the pictures, I'm sure the quilt is even more stunning in person!! How do you plan to quilt it?
Jackie, those stripes are wonderful!! And I just love the bright colors, great job!
