An Angel From Panama

Hello Everyone,

Like many of you, I follow many different blogs. But there is one I have been following for sometime now. Carol from Panama, has a blog called Postcards from Panama. If you haven't seen it, you must go visit her. She is a very talented lady and it really shows in the work she does.

Well, she also started reading my blog and also exploring my website. She had e-mailed me on several occasions and expressed how much she liked the longarm quilting that I do for my customers. She asked if I would like to quilt her Angels quilt that she has been working on.

I was thrilled. This quilt is just so bright, beautiful, and whimsical. You know the saying, "photos just don't do it justice". Well that was definitely true in this case. When the quilt arrived in my hands, it was breathtaking. It is a pattern from Mary Lou Weidman, another great quilter with a fantastic blog, go check it out.

Any way, here is where I stop talking and let you see the quilt and the quilting.

This is one of the Angels on the quilt. Carol requested some specific types of quilting and I think I filled her requests. It definitely needed to be quilted in a whimsical manner and I believe that I have achieved that. I love the hair and the cheeks on this one.

The heart of course is just darling. But you can see the inner border was done with a wonderful loop/ribbon effect.

This is another favorite angel. Crazy hair and halo.

You may or may not be able to see, but I quilted angels in a row on the outer borders. Click on the picture to enlarge.

Here is the entire quilt in all its glory! When it arrived back in Panama, from its long journey from the states, Carol wrote to me telling me she was thrilled. I am pleased and was really honored to work on this quilt. Thanks, Carol for the wonderful opportunity you gave me!

For more quilting inspiration, please go check out my gallery by clicking HERE. Enjoy!!

Until Next Time...

*** EDIT-- You really need to go over to Carol's blog. She has many more photos of this quilt and they were taken in natural light. Unfortunately, the day that I took my photos it was overcast here. Enjoy! ***

Oh WOW Jackie - a whole blog about my quilt - I am honored. Thanks so much.

Anyone reading this... if quilting is not your thing - send your top to Jackie - she is a master!

I had admired the work Jackie had done for other quilters - I looked closely at every single photo in her gallery. When I finally finished my angel applique I thought what the heck - I'm NEVER going to quilt it myself - so I sent it off to Connecticut - if it came back just OK - that would have been better than I could have done - so I wasn't nervous at all.

This was not an easy job - I gave her the freedom to do as she pleased and the designs she chose and the details are spectacular! If I had been standing at her side during the quilting I would not have changed a thing!

Thanks Jackie :-)

cute quilt! I love the way you quilted it. I'm always keeping you in mind, if I can't keep up with my hand quilting some of them might eventually be heading your way, but for now I will keep trying to get caught up. I do like the way you do your quilting though. I will check out these blogs you mention.

OmGosh! I think this is the prettiest quilt I've seen all week in my blog surfing! The colors, the pattern, the quilting - all so nice. What a wonderful piece! I am also so glad that you shared Carol and Mary Lou's links so that I can visit them also. You and Carol make a great team - it's amazing that the quilt returned to Carol and she could say it was as if she was standing next to you to tell you how to quilt it! Someone else said it - I'm going to repeat it - MAGICAL!

Jackie,

I've been following Carol's progress on her quilt along the way.

I'm amazed by the lovely job you both accomplished. The whimsy of the hair and cheek details are great.

I think you both should take a bow for such lovely work!

Congratulations to you both, I'm sure you have a prize winner on your hands.

Oh I hope so Sandi - I am going to enter it in the 2010 Jacksonville Quiltfest - in Jacksonville Florida from September 23 - 25. I used to live in Jax and have friends and relatives that live there - so I have plenty of places to stay. If my appliqué doesn't win a prize Jackie's quilting will surely win best machine quilting!
