Just a Small Quilt

Hello Everyone,

You all know my love of bright fabrics, that is definitely no secret! But I just adore 1930s fabrics too. In fact, I have a few that I would like to show you over the next month or so.

The first one is just a little quilt that I absolutely adore. I made it a while ago and really need to finish it up.

I used only fabrics from my stash for this one.

Every block with the exception of two have yellow for the center.

I don't know about all of you, but I find that piecing a smaller quilt is more difficult than a large one. Simply because there is less room for error. Not that I ever intend to make a mistake. But they do happen.

Here is the entire quilt. It only measures 23.5" X 28.5". I am going to scallop the borders, but I will be quilting it first.

Yes, it is the cover quilt from Darlene Zimmerman's book. I just love her and her work. I think I have all of her books. She just does 1930s fabric and quilts to perfection. Don't you think?

Now, you need to go over to my friend Kathy's blog. She is doing a wonderful giveaway of Terry Atkinson goodies. But hurry, it ends soon.

Also, don't forget, everything on my online fabric shop is 20% through December 8. Just use the code happy20 during checkout. Have a great weekend!

Until Next Time...

Very sweet. Zippers and scalloped borders are 2 things I didn't accomplish on my 2009 TO DO List! Yes, little is cuter but more fiddly.

I really love 30s fabrics, too - and this pattern showcases them perfectly!

As you know, I totally love 1930s fabrics and quilts. Yours is really beautiful, and I am looking forward to the others you will show us.
Darlene Zimmerman´s fabric designs are very nice, I have some of her fabrics, too, and I love to use them.

I love the 30 fabrics too. My last big quilt was the nosegay in the 30 fabrics.

The small one is so sweet. I may need to check that book out.

Cute quilt, and I echo your enjoyment of 1930s fabrics. I had the fun of attending a weekend class with Darlene Zimmerman at our local quilt shop 3 years ago. She shared several dozen quilts, showed us hint after hint, led us is making a small quilt from your book, and she kindly autographed the 6 or 7 of her books that I own. Lovely lady and a great proponent of 1930s fabrics.

You've been busy. I love Darlene's book too. And one thing I love about small quilts is that they seem to come together fast.

Jackie...you and I share that same love of the 30's fabrics. I simply adore your quilt. Love it...Love it...Love it! The red in those two centers are a real kick. I will have to remember that!

I love the look of scallopped edges but have not had the nerve to try one. Would you mind telling about your experience with it?

Pretty little quilt! I think this is the first time I see you worked on small quilt (since I've been your follower). Love the colors.

I do think small quilts can be as much or more work than larger quilts. I enjoy making them though. I've changed my habits and tend to press seams open on small quilts just to handle the bulk better.

I need to get that book.

Love the 1930's quilt! Beautiful border fabric. I just purchased a ruler for scallop borders. They are so very pretty.

Oh I love this! I've never done a scalloped border, too scared! I need to get over that. And I love that 30s fabric too. I have 2 drawers full of the original Aunt Grace stuff. The quality is so much different from what Marcus makes now. Amazing.
