Your Thoughts, Please...

Hello Everyone,

I hope you all had a productive and delightful week! I have and have been contemplating a new project. I have sorted through all my Kaffe fabrics, fondled, folded, refolded, washed, refolded, sorted... well you get the picture. Many were in my stash and many purchased from Terri.

Any way as much fun as that is, I think I have chosen the fabrics that I would like to use in my next project. Here is the photo below of the ones that I have chosen.

A nice selection of ROYGBIV, wouldn't you say?

I am thinking of pairing them up with Kona white. For whatever reason, I am desiring a crisp, clear quilt with this project. Maybe I am channeling Rita. What do you think of the colors that I picked? Are there any that you don't think belong? What do you think about pairing them with Kona white? Your opinions would be appreciated and then hopefully next week, I can show you some progress.

Don't forget to check my gallery for new customer updates. I have also added some of my own quilts for sale in my Etsy shop. Hope you have a terrific weekend!

Until Next Time,

Well, you know I will love this!!!! I love the white as the nice, crisp background. You can't get bored with that. You could grow out of a mint green background or another light color. I am sure ANYTHING you do will be fabulous! You have a great eye for color - just look at what you are pulling for this one. For ME, I like the saturated color. I am not a fan of the lower right blue and white background of big blooms b/c of the white. In my lollypops, I did not use any such fabric. All super-saturated with color, no place to rest. Just my 2 cents!

I think those colors will go great with white. I have seen so many bright color scrappy quilts lately with white or black and some are such simple patterns and they are absolutely fantastic to look at.

For what this is worth, I love Kona White, I like my eyes to rest, The only fabrics I have any concern about are the dark green, then tend to stand out, now that is not a bad thing, because knowing you, they will be placed in a place where they will pop!

I think the kona white will be fabulous with these wonderful prints! I have a few kaffe's in my stash but your collection is to swoon over! It will become a glorious quilt!

Exuberantcolor/Wanda S Hanson said...

It will definitely be a high contrast quilt in which the design will really stand out. You have me wanting to go stack my Kaffe's now!

What a wonderful grouping of fabrics! I think they will look fantastic with Kona White...I love the Kona white with bright prints because it gives the eyes a place to rest and allows you to combine many many prints, patterns and colors!

I like the combination of these fabrics with Kona white, this quilt will have impact. I'd only be careful with the fabric at the bottom right corner, because it is the only one with quite a bit of white contrast in it. In that it is different from all the other fabrics and will "pop". Depending on the pattern/ placement that might even create extra energy.

Oh yes, a beautiful rainbow that will shine with crisp white. Nice to see some of the newest Kaffe fabrics hiding in there. Personally I'm not fussed on the red bottom left, but's that's just me. I would use red Kirman or red Russian Rose instead. But hey, maybe that one is your favourite!!!! Whatever you use, this is going to be one special quilt! xo

Jodie said...

Oh yes - it will be spectacular!

willywagtail said...

I agree that the bottom right does not really go - too much white. Otherwise, this should look spectacular. Love these style of quilts. Cherrie

White, off white, creme...always be my favorite color. They always perfect for anykind of color.Go with it, Jackie! It would be excellent :)

I love all your choices and think they will look great with white. Study any of Kaffe's quilts carefully, and you will see one or two or more that just don't seem to go with the rest of the fabrics(and would not be chosen by the majority of quilters), and yet they do end up working beautifully together. Sometimes those seemingly "odd" choices make the quilt!

adsjfqp843986q sorry- drooling on my keyboard and it's shorting out...

I love those beautiful colors! I can't wait to see what you are going to do with them.

The one that stands out to me is different than anyone else has said, although I do agree with wishes, true and kind. I think the one at the top of the second column kind of reads pastel to me, whereas the rest read bright. But I don't know what you are making, so maybe you need a little of that in there! I dunno- use them ALL! They are all so pretty!

Vibrant and beautiful. They'll certainly pop on white.

Yum , love these fabrics and you can't go wrong with the white. If you're like me, you'll add and subtract as you go. This is just your starting point!

Stina Blomgren said...

Perfect!!! They are so vivid!!! Good luck!!! :o)

its all about placement! you can make them all work! You'll find out when you start playing! love that part!
have fun! I find I start out with a pile of picks and as i go along not everything works, but you
'll find something else! I'm amazed you had all these in your stash! ;-)

I think it will look great so get busy! LOL!

I am in an 'everything goes with everything' mood so of course these fabrics are great! And perfect with white... just perfect. This will be bright and fun and cheerful and perfect to work on as fall approaches.

Tine said...

Oh they are beautiful!
I think I would leave out the blue and white in the lower right corner, bc it is the only print that has white in it. Especially if you are pairing these with white..
But that's just me. Can't wait to see what you make!

Carin said...

Drool drool!! I think this will be an amazing quilt! I love the idea of white with the brights, the only one I would be worried about so to speak it the blue and white at the bottom, if you put it with the white it may not stand out like you want.

Heck when your done if you don't like it just send it to me ;O)

An outstanding selection of fabrics and yes, Kona white is going to help all of them play even more nicely with each other. The only one in this grouping that doesn't work for me is the blue and white in the lower right-hand corner. Although I think it's gorgeous fabric, for this project I think it has too much white patterned in it. I'm eager to see what you do with these. Thanks for the inspiration!

Oh, absolutely, go with a nice crisp white. I've thinking of a few quilts with white sashing myself...Be sure to let us see the finished product so we can drool!

Honestly, anything would look great with what you have picked! I am working on a zig zag quilt using picnic parade (very bright) and khaki kona cotton) if you want to see what that looks like here is a link to my cut out squares http://badlandsquilts.blogspot.com/2009/07/ready-to-zig-zag-almost.html Chocolate brown linen/solid would look great. I have two boys so I don't use a lot of white for obvious reasons! Good luck!

I love your fabric choices. I wish I had a collection like this. White should look with them. I can't wait to see what you come up with.

They're lovely and I think they'll look great together.
As you may know, I can hardly make a quilt without white so of course I think white would be great.
I'm a Bella girl myself, but Kona will do the trick. :o)

I used Kona snow with a bunch of Kaffe and I loved how it turned out. I'm guessing snow and white are fairly close. Love those fabrics and I wouldn't change a thing!

Cathi said...

Lovely wonderful saturated colour!! The only one I'd be tempted to leave out is the bottom right one because of the white in it -- but it will depend where it's placed in relation to the Kona Snow.

Teresa said...

The only fabric I would remove from this luscious collection is the blue and white print in the bottom right corner...its just too much white where the others all read color and lots of it - which I just love! I see what one of the commenters means about the dark green, but I think if you moved it to the bottom of he stack beside that dark red, orange and blue it would look more like it blends in. I love white backgrounds on quilts and think it will make for a happy summer quilt.

I love all this fabrics and, yes, they will be great with white...but could you consider a less used color as a natural? Rita (Red Pepper Quilts) has made many project with a half-linen fabric in natural that I like so much.

What I can see without my sunglasses, they all look great! LOL.

I have to say I agree about the bottom right fabric - it didn't seem to go with the others. The rest of the fabric matched with Kona white should sing!

My thoughts:

1. Get a box.
2. Put Kaffe's in box.
3. Put Kaffe's + Kona White (or Snow) in box.
4. Address and hand box to postal worker.
5. Instruct me to keep an eye on my mailbox.

I can't wait to see what you do with them, Jackie. I'm crazy mad about doing a Kaffe quilt and love your collection. One of these days!
