The Black and White Quilt Challenge Project

.............Thank you to everyone who has joined in on this Challenge. It is now officially CLOSED. I think we have close to 60 members!! YAY!! Follow our yearlong journey by clicking the icon on my sidebar. The remaining invites will be e-mailed today! Welcome Everyone!.........

Hi Everyone,

In my last post I mentioned a wonderful yearlong challenge! Yes, I said yearlong. Well, I had stirred some interest and have some participants. So I thought I would make it official. I have created a new blog called The Black and White Quilt Challenge Project, this will be a place where all participants can post progress on their projects throughout the year and offer us all some inspiration.

So here is the deal....

1. You need to create something with black and white fabric and add only ONE color.

2. It can be a quilt, a wearable, a tote, really whatever you like.

3. You have a whole year to complete your project.

4. If you choose, you can make multiple projects over the year.

If you would like to join me as well as, Eileen, Stephanie, Jacquie, Annemarie, and Henny, just leave a comment on this post letting me know and I will send an invite to become a team member for the new blog and you can start posting at anytime.

Oh and I almost forgot that Jane has an offer on some Black and White fabric....
I have an offer for you in my eBay store I have a set of 30 black and white fat quarters on sale, if anyone from your challenges says they are in your challenge, I will take $5 off the price

Also, you can put the picture that is on my sidebar on your blog with a link back to the new blog. That way anyone can join in at any time during the next year.

I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with. Until next time, Happy Quilting!

I haven't entered a challenge before and am new to blogging but am keen to give it a go. I have a fair collection of black, white, black/white and white/black fabric so the real challenge will be - what other colour to include...
Cheers!

I love the idea of a year long challenge. I have made one black & white project, a jacket, but have been wanting to do something else. I think this will give me the kick I need. I will, however, not start on anything new until after the first of the year. thanks for letting me join.

This sounds fun! I've been looking wistfully at b/w fabrics thinking how fun they could be together. I'm glad there's a year to create :)

Lily Boot said...

Hi Jackie - I'd love to take part - it will surely be a challenge for me as I have never made anything in just black and white - with one extra colour :-) Should be great!

Cheryl said...

Oh this is tempting!!!!

Karen said...

Looks like we will be seeing lots of black and white (and one other colour) quilts over the next year. I will just have to watch the fun. Without even looking, I know exactly how many pieces of black and white fabric I have in my stash. That would be two fat quarters! LOL And no, I do not need an excuse to go buy more fabric! :)

jacquie said...

jackie,
still haven't gotten my invite to join the b&w blog. no hurry...i am excited though...think i might have a plan.

Paula said...

I'll play!! I've got some great black and whites that were given to me for my 40th birthday. This is a great challenge to help use them up.
Thanks!

It sounds like such a fabulous idea Jackie!!! I am tempted to put my hand up but I know me and quilting commitments between all the other sewing I need to do. I will be watching with great interest though!!

How could I not join? You've made it so easy. I love black and white. The question is what will strike my fancy? We'll see next year. Thanks for doing this Jackie.

Wow, you are getting a ton of quilters, how much fun is that!!

Nicole said...

Hi Jackie. I have been wanting to make a black and white quilt for the longest time. May I join the challenge?

The Calico Quilter said...

One question - do shades of gray count in the black and white part, or the one added color part? I have seen some striking black/white/gray quilts and have been thinking about trying one. I'm already making one of black/white/gray with tan added (it's the colors of my calico cat).

Browndirtcottage said...

OK.....since it is for a year long.....and i'm kinda slow at things....i guess this would be a good place for me to get my feet wet with my first blogland participation....COUNT ME IN!!!

Please count me in ~ I rarely participate in challenges, but I have been wanting to make myself a B&W for a year or more and have a wonderful stash just waiting for an excuse... (I've made two before but one went to the AFA Quilt to Remember and the other was gifted to family friends) so YES, I will make mine in 2009!!!

Greenmare said...

count me in, I've been picking out black and whites for a few years, but, do I HAVE to add another color? does gray count?

Sandi Linn Andersen said...

Just the other day, I was looking at my black and white fabrics, plus a few nice grays and I had to make something so I made a make-up bag. I really need to do something else so please add me to the challenge. I can handle a whole year and I already had an idea for the black and whites and this will be the place to make it happen. :-)

Okay ... Calico Cat/Amy sent me. And I would also like the challenge of a black and white quilt.

Thanks for the challenge!

Ok, I'll take up the challenge! I'm finishing up some other swaps that I am in & have been trying to keep myself away from others so that I could get more of my UFO's done (especially a long overdue wedding quilt for my sister!).

But, having a year & being able to do anything, sounds like something that I could work on along with my UFO's.

Please sign me up!

In peace & pieces,

Sherry V.
