2 Down....and Show Pics

Good Morning,

Since my last posting, I was able to complete the binding on BOTH quilts you saw!! Yay!! So now I have 2 down in both Eileen's and Peg's Challenges. Here are pictures of both completed projects.

We also managed to take a long weekend and do our yearly trek to Hershey Park...mmmmmm chocolate and to the Kutztown Folk Festival. This one is special because my husband grew up right next door to the fairgrounds and his mom still lives there. So he has been there every year of his life and we all get to see his mom.

For me there is an extra added bonus...The Quilt Barn!! They actually have a quilt show and auction every year. I have entered quilts in the past and have won 2 ribbons there. Here you will find very few machine quilted quilts, mostly hand quilted. A lot are made by the Amish or Mennonite women. Wonderful workmanship. All the pictures of the following quilts ARE the ribbon winners! So sit back and enjoy the pictures.

Also, throughout the 9 days of the festival, in the Quilt Barn, women take turns at the old fashioned quilting bee. Here are a few pictures from the bee.

On a side note, my dear friend Deb has closed here brick and mortar quilt shop. This is the local shop that I worked at and taught classes. But on a great note for all you quilter's she is selling the remaining fabric from her store online at here Gone Quilting site. Everything is 35% OFF so hurry on over and check out the deals!! Tell her that I sent you.

I have also been busy with customer quilts. You check check out the newest additions of beautiful customer quilts here. I have also been working on my mystery by mail 1st clue! Updates to follow.

Have a wonderful 4th of July weekend!!
Jackie

First off.. I want to say that I am in love with that quilting pattern on your Mambo Quilt. That would be so cute and easy to do on a hand-quilted one. I might steal that!

And THANKS for the link to your friend's store.. I'm going to go check it out. After I go back and look long at each and every picture you posted from the Quilt Barn. :-D WONNDERFUL!

Your Mambo quilt is just gorgeous. I love the Autumn colors. All of the quilts that you posted are truly spectacular. One of these days I need to get my butt on over to a quilt show and feast in all of the eye candy.
The pics of the women at the quilt bee warmed my heart. Sometimes I wish that I lived in a rural area of the country that is deeply rooted in the art of quilting. Somehow I think I'm missing something in life. Take care. Hope you had a fantastic 4th of July.
Aloha!

Love the quilts but the roller coasters at Hersheypark are definitely not my cup of tea (lol). I would rather go to the quilting bee. It looks like you all had fun and accomplished a lot. Your orange/yellow coloured quilt that you finished is a beauty! Take care, Helen

Jackie I'm so jealous! First of all I remember we talked before about me growing up in Reading. I MISS IT!! Many of the quilts in that show were influenced by PA Dutch art. I loved them. I am super jealous of you going to the Folk Festival. I have such tender memories of that. Our church used to have a stand every year and I would work in it as a teenager. And Hershey Park!! Did you go on the tram ride around town and hear about Milton Hershey? He's such an example of someone that never gave up and did so much for that community and for so many children. His legacy lives on and Hershey still supports those charities.

Now your 2 quilts are DARLING. I'm super impressed. Good for you. I loved them. I'll be back to take more looks at those quilt winners. Thank you for posting them. But you made me sooo homesick!

Wow! What beautiful pictures. I love to see a good quilt show -- especially since we can't seem to get a good one around here LOL! And look at that whole-cloth quilt -- I'd love to attempt on of those someday!

But, you, Jackie are amazing with your quilts!---did I just open the cover to a quilt magazine???!! Your quilts are so worthy of blue ribbons and cover shots on AP&Q.
