Wind It Up Wednesday Wrap Up

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday was Wind It Up Wednesday in the studio!  A fun day of socializing and sewing all day.  Here is what was in progress during the day....

I first worked on applying the binding to my Summer Solstice quilt.  I used the same fabric as I had in the inner border and am glad I did.  I was struggling with what fabric I wanted to use.  Now to hand sew it down.

Donna brought a little show and tell.  Her 5 year old granddaughter made this little piece of patchwork and wanted her grandmother to show it off today!  Great job, a new quilter in the making!!

Remember last time Leslie was working on this quilt?  Well she finished this one and...

A second one too!  I just love how they turned out, gorgeous!!

I then began paper piecing my Sunflower Illusions.  Here they are all neatly stacked and ready to go!!

Leslie brought this little show and tell, very appropriate for Valentine's Day!!

Roberta was working on a Double Irish Chain baby quilt.

Where is Nancy??? She is working on her prep work for the class I am teaching on Sunday... Cactus Flower Table Runner.  You can see some of her fabric on the chair.

Sarah was working on the quilt behind her.  Love the block!

Notice the DESIGN WALLS are in USE!!! Yay!!

Donna was working on Fresh Palette.  This was my design that was featured in Quilt Magazine.  She had purchased the kit.  It is looking great!

You can see us all working and see the design walls in use.

Her is the other side of the room.

Karen was working on this beauty, and...

this one too!  Do you think that Karen matches her quilts or the quilts match her??

Lorraine was working on this Kaffe Fassett beauty!! I kept threatening that it may just end up in my bag.  I am totally smitten with this quilt.

Whoa baby... Barbara was working on this beauty!  Don't you just love this too!  Such talent in this room!

My friend, Eileen, who I haven't seen in months, came today and I was sooooo happy.  She brought some hand sewing and worked on yo-yos.  Cute!

More paper piecing from me!

Here is what I was able to complete today.  I love them, love them, love them!!  But then again pink is such a favorite color of mine!

Close up... nice sharp points to die for....

I hope you enjoyed! It was a fun day with talented, delightful company.

If you would like to attend one of these days in my studio, the schedule is now up on my website.  There are three dates in February for a Wind It Up Wednesday, Finish It Up Friday, and Sit and Sew Saturday.

My Design Wall Is A Mish Mash

Hello Everyone,

So I was looking at my design wall and I have several things on it that need to be completed.

I had started to make these LeMoyne stars with African fabrics and Kona cotton.  I really would like to make some more and have one fantastic quilt.  Love, love, love African fabrics.  You can find them here on my site.

Then I have these LeMoyne stars that I have been making with Kaffe Fassett fabrics and Australian fabrics.  I am loving the red and yellow together, but still need to decide on a setting.  I think I need many more blocks though. I want to make it BIG!!

Then I have this little guy that I made long ago with my friend Victoria.  I just need to quilt it... so that is what is going on with my design wall.

What is on your design wall?

Until Next Time...

Happy Campers!

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday was our last day at the retreat that I was teaching at the Strong House Inn in Vergennes, VT. I must say what a lovely group of ladies we had there and they were all very prolific!  All of them understood the paper piecing process and really seemed to enjoy it!! That made me very excited and happy for them.

Here we all are holding some of the blocks they completed.  Oh... but there was much more than what they had in their hands!!

Here is Patty with one of her Desert Sky blocks.  Patty and her daughter came from Canada to attend the retreat, about an 8 hour drive. And they plan on coming next year too!!

Here are three of her blocks together!  Just gorgeous!

Mary, the innkeeper, is also a quilter and got in on the action too!  Her blocks are just beautiful!

Cindy's block turned out just wonderful.  I love that black patterned batik soooooo much.

Laura was quite busy and was able to get all these units done!  She certainly out did her mom, I think.

Ruth, another Canadian, finished these.  I really love the colors that she chose.

This was a fabulous place to have a retreat.  The rooms were beautiful, the food gourmet, the company was fun and friendly.  Another paper piecing retreat is already in the works for next year at the same time!! Yup... a different project though.  I will be teaching it too... so keep your January calendars open!!

If you would like any of the patterns that we made at this retreat... Desert Sky, Total Eclipse, and Sunflower Illusions, you can purchase them on my site by clicking here.

Quilt Retreat ~ Day 1 At The Strong House Inn

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday was arrival day at the quilt retreat that I am teaching at in the Strong House Inn in Vermont.

First, I must say that I am in LOVE with this inn... it is not only gorgeous, it is HUGE and the owners are the friendliest people... oh and the best cooks too!!

Here the quilter's are arriving from all over to set up... we have quilter's from Canada, NY, RI, and VT!

Yesterday was a more get to know you kind of day, with a little instruction.  Mary, the owner, served some appetizers prior to dinner.

She made ALL of us quilter's feel right at home.

A fabulous dinner of Coq Au Vin was served and very delicious.

Here is the quilting crew getting ready to eat a wonderful pear salad.

Who can resist dessert?

This is our menu for the weekend!  I think I will need to be rolled out of here.  YUM!

Where we will eat breakfast.

My room... I love it!

A view from the other side.
